A police officer in Baton Rouge resigned Thursday after a local news channel revealed that he sent text messages in which he wished that fellow officers would pull a Ferguson on a bunch of monkeys, The Advocate reports.
Fifteen-year-veteran Michael Elsbury resigned on Thursday after text messages he sent to a female friend were brought to the attention of his superiors. In one message, Officer Elsbury whose patrol included the area around the historically black Southern University wrote that blacks are nothing but a bunch of monkeys, and that the only reason they have this job is the nigger, nigger in them. It is unclear what job he is referring to.
In another text, he wrote that I wish someone would pull a Ferguson on them and take them out. I hate looking at those African monkeys at work
I enjoy arresting those thugs with their saggy pants.

(12,769 posts)If true, I applaud her but in the story posted the person is simply referred to as "the girl" which I find odd. I mean how old was she?

(29,067 posts)and you are right that there was no mention of her being a fellow cop...I don't know where I got that mistaken idea, but, cop or no, it was good of this female person -- no, I don't know her age -- to report him.

(12,769 posts)Actually, I did read that somewhere (probably here) and saved it though, it would take me a while to find it. If you tested too high you weren't qualified.

(10,745 posts)It is indeed a sad fact that in public service jobs, with racism, comes corruption, in so MANY cases.

(31,849 posts)those Black folks sitting in Pelican Bay, that he arrested ... that have paid for lawyers, are making collect calls, as we speak.
Unfortunately, it'll have to be the paid for lawyers, because the Public Defenders don't have the time or resources, and the Police Department and Prosecutor lack the desire.

(29,322 posts)or someone like a sociopath or a sociopath, someone not personally bounded by any type of code that wanted to damage lives or really be corrupt - a police profession is a great opportunity to do that. Hell, they're trained to be underhanded and manipulative just like the criminals they're supposed to be chasing.
ReRe
(10,597 posts)... they have no other reason to live. This dude probably says these kinds of things in his sleep. What's wrong when human beings absolutely refuse to assimilate in society? Is this not a form of mental illness? What can society do to protect (and/or rid) the public from these psychopaths/sociopaths?
