Lebanon: Israel Detonates Spying Device, 1 Killed

Source: ABC News

Israel remotely detonated a spying device planted in south Lebanon, killing a member of the Lebanese militant Hezbollah in the explosion, the group said Friday.

Hezbollah Al-Manar TV said Hassan Ali Haidar was killed after army intelligence spotted a "strange device" in the village of Adloun. A jet detonated the device remotely after it was discovered, killing Haidar, it said.

The Lebanese army confirmed the incident, but said the dead man was a civilian. It said Israel detonated the device "from a distance" through aircraft flying overhead. The device was planted on the militant group's telecommunications network.

Lebanese and U.N. officials have accused Israel in the past of detonating similar surveillance devices planted in south Lebanon, where Hezbollah guerrillas operate. Hezbollah and Israel, bitter enemies, fought a fierce monthlong war in 2006.

This looks like an unprovoked act of war to me.

Don't worry, this will be forgotten, but not by Lebanon. If the Lebanese get fed up with Israel's behavior and respond in kind, Israel will act like the victim and possibly conduct another atrocity against Lebanon.

Given that Hezbollah has not disarmed, in fact they re-armed after the ceasefire Israel has every right to keep their eye on them.

not to mention the spy device-it should also be noted that Israel refused for years to provide Lebanon with info about where it had dropped cluster bombs in Southern Lebanon leading to numerous deaths and injuries among civilians living there

I forgot about all of those times that Americans have been killed by Russian, Chinese, and Israeli spy devices detonated by aircraft flying over American soil.
