Owner: 'Cowardly animals' open fire at Waterford roller rink party; 5 injured

Snip < Waterford Township— Police said three men were involved in an early Friday morning shooting that left at least five people wounded by gunfire at a private holiday party.

Snip< "Our videos show … young men wearing baggy clothes, enter through the exit doors as people were leaving," Anselmi said. "They then go about 30 feet into the building towards the rink area and start firing. It appeared all three of them fired guns. Then they ran out, one of them holding his gun behind him still firing it in the opposite direction as he ran out of the building."

6. But-but-but I thought all in possession of a gun were really, really responsible people!

They take extra care to not put themselves in an adversarial situation, too!

Those roller skaters must have fallen on the guns or something. They certainly weren't shot. It must have been an optical illusion!

8. Actually, those are direct quotes from NRA supporters on this site.

We've been told that those who insist on carrying are "more responsible" and "avoid tense situations and disagreements" as a result. We've also been told that the media reports shootings because they are "sensationalistic", and the deaths would happen via another weapon if a gun was not used. I also spotted the "you have no right to safety" meme on another thread two days ago.

>It is also a rather foolish strawman.<

The truth hurts, doesn't it?

that says, and I quote you, "...that all in possession of a gun were really, really responsible people." I won't hold my breath while I wait.

10. I'll be more than happy to produce that quote (from a member of the gungeon, posted earlier this

year,) if you will agree to renounce your NRA membership, once and for all.

Wanna' roll the dice? I'm feeling lucky!

21. You are confusing lawful carry with unlawful carry

They're not the same thing, and there is no way for an 18-year-old in Michigan to get a permit to carry a gun legally.

11. Care to bet that none of these shooters can legally own a gun?

legal gun owners are very responsible - people with concealed carry licenses commit crimes at a much lower rate than the general public.

Why don't you take care of the criminals before you worry about legal gun owners?

15. But, they don't commit crimes at lower rates than those who could get a permit, but choose not to.

One reason not to just to focus on "criminals" is that those who promote more and more guns in society are just making it easier for criminals to get them. In fact, many folks who buy a gun today, will sell it privately to someone who can't pass a background check; have it stolen; have their kid carry it to school to be just like dad; and worse.

gun ownership has skyrocketed as have gun sales. What evidence is there that there are more criminals with guns committing more gun crimes? What facts are behind your opinions?

24. Think long-term. If you believe a bunch of 100 million or so guns sold here next 10 years won't

end up in criminals hands; or the Loughner/Cho's hands; in a compound; in some cowboy/vigilante's waistband; in some bigoted TPartier's pants; etc., then you really aren't thinking about this issue.
