(D-NE) Kerrey: I intended to live at sister's home

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Maggie O'Brien

When Bob Kerrey registered to vote last month in Douglas County and listed his sister's address as his home — swearing under oath that it was his residence — he fully intended to live there for some time, he said Monday.

A day later, Kerrey said, he “lucked out” in finding his own place when real estate developer Jay Noddle offered to let him live in his guest home.

“I thought it would take longer to establish residency,” Kerrey said in an interview Monday. “I lucked out.”

The lucky find landed him in the middle of a political controversy, however, after Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale challenged the statement he made under oath when registering. Gale accused Kerrey on Friday of having a “cavalier” attitude in claiming to be a Nebraska resident while staying at an Omaha hotel.

FULL story at link.

The Constitution does not prohibit that. It disallows a state's electoral college votes going to 24601 Mar 2012 #8

in his challenging Kerrey's residency. Whew! Glad he cleared that up.

I'm sure ever new voter is reviewed as rigorously as Kerrey.

Wasn't his residence in Texas a hotel room that was rented out when he was not there?

How about chainey changing his residency out of Texas to run with Shrub as the Constitution does not allow a president and vp to be from the same state?

Pres & VP candidates from that same state. If you can win without those those votes you still win. In the 2000 election, no one would have reveived 270 votes and the Pres election would have been decided in the House of Representatives where it's one state - one vote - Bush would have won there. The VP election would have been decided in the Senate which was split 50-50 - so Gore presumably would have cast the deciding vote. It could have ended up with Bush & Lieberman.
