Police dragged some protesters from the steps of the state Capitol before arresting them today. Del. Delores L. McQuinn, D-Richmond, tonight spoke out against the arrests of 31 women's rights demonstrators in a protest at the state Capitol earlier today that drew Virginia State Police in riot gear. She said the arrests "are just the latest example of government overreach that we’ve seen in recent weeks." "The men and women who marched on Capitol Square have a right to peacefully protest without the threat that they will be arrested for exercising that right," McQuinn said in a news release. "At several recent women’s rights events, there has been an overabundance of police presence. In fact, the Capitol Police tactical team has been at all of the events," she said. McQuinn said she had "never seen a similar police presence when guns rights advocates assemble on Capitol Square on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday." Men - in riot gear and armed are arresting and mistreating women who are exercising their first amendment rights of assembly. I ask again why are men so afraid of women? Is there any wonder domestic abuse is on the rise

31 arrested in women's rights demonstration at state Capitol
By: Olympia Meola | Richmond Times Dispatch Published: March 03, 2012 Updated: March 03, 2012 - 8:37 PM RICHMOND, Va. -- 8:30 p.m. Del. Delores L. I wonder what he'd think of the machine guns and the riot gear. |

are we back in the era where there were no women rights? Come on! The effing crazed goppers are creating protestors, especially women, which I don't think they will be able to handled and will surely cause their effed-up party to lose across board all over the country.
Why do the GOP party hate women? |

I really don't think the protesters' gender was what triggered police violence; but
I could be wrong. I do think our so-called "law enforcement" institutions in every city are being groomed and equipped to insure that there will be mass arrests of ANY group that attempts to still use what used to be our constitutional rights of assembly and speech for redress of grievances. well, maybe not ANY group, as I don't recall riot cops dragging off the Tea Party clowns by their hair to paddy wagons. We are so screwed. Congress just pass a law with overwhelming veto-proof majorities ... passed Senate UNANIMOUSLY ... to create HUGE NO-FREE-SPEECH ZONES... called National Security Zones .. declared by DHS for events such as the G8 meetings in Chicago; which literally FORBID ANY kind of demonstration or protest presence. http://www.wsws.org/articles/2012/mar2012/prot-m03.shtml |
