2. Well, somebody just fucked himself royally.

I nominate him for the Darwin Award.

3. Unless, of course, the invidividual(s) who removed the material know what they're doing

Which is the big concern -- that this radioactive material was taken as part of a sophisticated plan that involves using it at some point in the future to inflict death and mayhem.

If we're lucky, we'll find a radio active "cooked" truck thief laying along the side of the road in the near future, still holding the radioactive material -- in which case, a Darwin Award would be very well deserved.

4. If they knew what they were doing, they would have taken the container unopened.

These are not sophisticated terrorists. These are petty thieves who have no idea what they just did to themselves.

6. Unless it had some sort of tracking built into it, and since they all ready found it...

it probably did.

7. It was in the news nationally. With a description of the truck and license plates broadcast.

With a warning to the public and an appeal for information.

Didn't need a tracking device to find the truck.

10. Even if the radiation doesn't kill him, it's likely to make him or her infertile...

That qualifies for the Darwin Award!

8. Well, technically true, the empty container poses no risk to surrounding population...
