Sun on Sunday to launch next week

The Sun on Sunday is to publish for the first time next weekend, News International has announced.

An email to all staff said that Rupert Murdoch, boss of parent company News Corporation, would "be staying in London to oversee the launch".

The internal memo from News International chief executive Tom Mockridge said: "As you know, News Corporation has made clear its determination to sort out what has gone wrong in the past and we are fundamentally changing how we operate as a business.

"The commitment of News Corporation to invest in a new edition is the strongest possible message of support we could wish for."

If my memory serves me correct we have Chuck Schumer to thank for this whole charade as it was he who put in a bill that was being voted on early the next morning that murdock be a nationalized citizen giving him the right to do his evil deeds. He has no allegiance to our country or us as citizens.

So far, the left BBC and the The Guardian (which is ubreliable http://cifwatch.com) are the dominant media outlets in UK.

but it's hardly dominant in the UK. It's print circulation is well below the right-leaning broadsheets, the Times and the Telegraph, never mind the tabloids.

I see links to it here on DU quite a lot though, which leads me to think it's becoming a respected progressive source internationally.

I love it, I've read it since the 80s.

You have to be pretty far to the right to see the scrupulously neutral BBC as left-wing.

The Guardian is left-wing by the standards of our media, but hardly ultra-radical; it supported the LibDems in the last election.

Apart from very small-circulation papers such as the Morning Star, we have no radical-left media.

On the other hand, the Sun is by far Britain's biggest-selling newspaper, and is very right-wing. The next to it is the Daily Mail, also very right-wing.The Guardian is twelfth in circulation among Britian's newspapers, with less than a tenth of the circulation of the 'Sun' alone. So I don't see where you get your info that it's one of the 'dominant media outlets' in this country.

The BBC is not left wing, it is politically neutral. However it is state owned and as such many on the right wing hold a massive ideological grudge against the BBC. 99% of allegations of left wing bias against the BBC are utter gibberish.

The Guardian is left wing but it's circulation is actually quite low so to claim that it's one of the "dominant media outlets" shows that you are either knowingly lying or have been listening far too much to right wing blogs.

The Newspapers which are dominant are the likes of the Sun and the Daily Fail, which are very partisan right wing. Those papers reporting is also much less reliable then the Grauniad. And those papers also have much greater circulation then the Grauniad.
