Court: Governor's Appeal For More Time Is Denied
Campaign Asked For More Time To Authenticate Petition Signatures.
Updated: 5:49 pm CST February 17, 2012
MADISON, Wis. -- A Dane County judge on Friday rejected an appeal by Gov. Scott Walker's campaign for more time to examine the signatures on recall petitions.
The campaign has sought a two-week extension to review an estimated 1 million signatures.
Dane County Circuit Judge Richard Niess issued the order after an hour-long hearing Friday.
Walker's campaign argued the ordering of any election wouldn't be substantively delayed by its request, but Democrats said it is a "virtual certainty" that if approved any recall election would be delayed.
