Gov. John Kasich's approval still low but support for right-to-work status strong, poll shows
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Gov. John Kasich used his State of the State address last week to make his case that Ohio is moving in the right direction, but the speech did little to change his low job approval rating, according to a poll released this morning.
The governor's approval rating has risen to 40 percent from 39 percent three weeks ago while his disapproval number dropped to 46 percent from 48 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.
<snip>
More favorably for conservatives is that the poll also found that Ohioans, by a solid margin, favor passing a "right-to-work" law, which would make it illegal to force workers to join unions as a condition of employment. That measure was supported in this poll by a 54-to-40 percent margin.
Coming off a heavily partisan 2011 in which voters resoundingly rejected a collective bargaining law supported by Kasich and Republican lawmakers, the support in this poll for a "right-to-work" law is an interesting development. Voters repealed Senate Bill 5 with a referendum last November.

(6,295 posts)....this country is going in the WRONG direction....
....paying Union dues should be view as a condition of employment like wearing steel-toed boots....the benefits offered are a product of years of Union negotiations, contracts and Union dues....these scabs want benefits the haven't fought for or earned....how can you successfully bargain and collectively strike without money for food, insurance, lawyers, etc.?
....nobody is forcing anyone to work in a Union shop, but if you choose to work in a Union shop, support your co-workers that have made the conditions and benefits you enjoy possible....
....a person who would want to work in a Union shop without paying Union dues is the same type of person who would join the military and refuse to fight....a person who wants something for nothing....

(77,097 posts)you can only eat it on a day specified by their choosing, cnd then you only get a portion of 1/1000th of that peanut to be rationed over a 6 month period. This doesn't even cover the bullshit you get to put up with in order to keep earning that peanut. Now good luck their Ohio. Just remember, you get what you vote.
