Rape of Iraqi Women by US Forces as Weapons of War: Photos and Data Emerge

The leaked Public Affairs Guidance put the 101st media team into a “passive posture” — withholding information where possible. It conceals presence of both child victims, and describes the rape victim, who had just turned 14, as “a young woman”.

The US Army’s Criminal Investigation Division did not begin its investigation until three and a half months after the crime, news reports at that time commented.

This is not the only grim picture coming out of Iraq U.S. forces being accused of using rape as a war weapon.

2. Let the whole, disgusting sordid truth of the US' actions see the light of day.

To hide this is to compound brutal crimes with self-serving cowardice.

These are war crimes and there were many, many, many more.

Obama wanted to hide these from public view as part of the policy of "look forward" but the people of Iraq are owed the truth and much more.

11. This is a horrific national shame beyond anything I expected.

It should be shared as widely as possible (although I do wish they had done a better job of blocking out the faces of the women on the principle of protecting their privacy. As a society we need to acknowledge this and take responsibility for what we have allowed to happen.

12. "withholding information where possible" good ol USA. Don't join the military!

Is this where men learn to rape? or is it just that they feel they can get away with it easier in the military? Did they join up so they could rape? The ones who don't get punished come out and rejoin civilian life ...then what? Why is the percentage of rape so much higher in the military?

16. In war,

people can get away with indulging in their basest nature: they can commit all manner of atrocities that would earn them 10,000 years in prison or the death penalty a thousand times over were they to perpetrate these actions in ordinary civilian life.

14. Rape always happens in war.

That's why you DON'T START WARS!!!!

And if our soldiers are raping fellow soldiers, how hard is it to imagine that they rape the local women?

GET THE EFF OUT OF THESE PEOPLE'S HOMELAND! And stop wondering why they hate us.
