Security Guard At N.Y. High School Arrested For Threatening To Blow Up School
Source: TPM
Police in a New York community said Tuesday that a security guard at a local high school was arrested for threatening to blow up the school building, the Journal News reported.
Kenneth A. Carter, a 51-year-old security aide at Nyack High School in Upper Nyack, N.Y., was arrested May 22 and charged with making a terrorist threat, which is a felony.
Clarkstown, N.Y. police Sgt. Glenn Cummings said that Carter made the threat to a colleague at a time when he was facing disciplinary action from the school. The reason for the discipline is still unclear.
In a bit of anger, he expressed to a co-worker that he was going to go home, get his guns and blow the place up, Cummings said, as quoted by the Journal News. The co-worker "spoke out" about Carter's remark, according to the Journal News, leading to the security guard's arrest. Police said he was unarmed at the time of the arrest.

(3,596 posts)We know even law enforcement contains people with mental problems so not arming civilians such as teachers or security guards is no guarantee there won't be problems but.....
I see no benefit in arming teachers or putting a rent-a-cop with a gun at every school door. They will NOT be effective in stopping the next attack on a school or any other place for that matter.
