Galveston judge indicted on 8 criminal counts

GALVESTON - A Galveston County judge has been indicted on eight criminal counts charging him with abuse of office, including retaliation against the attorney representing the judge's wife in a divorce case.

The indictments, presented to state District Judge Kerry Neves by attorneys from the Texas Attorney General's Office on Wednesday, accuse County-Court-at-Law Judge Christopher Dupuy of two felony counts of obstruction or retaliation, two misdemeanor counts of official oppression and four misdemeanor counts of abuse of official capacity. If convicted on any count, Dupuy would be automatically removed from office.

He was arrested about 3 p.m. and posted bail of $19,000 about two hours later, Galveston County sheriff's spokesman Major Ray Tuttoilmondo said.

Dupuy could not be reached for comment and a spokesman for the attorney general declined to discuss the case.

I still have a mind like a steel trap even after my deleterious endeavors! It did take me a moment to link the two stories together so I'm slipping as I get older.

It appears that the future for Judge Dupuy doesn't look very bright, particularly if the AG isn't willing to suffer the fool. Like a teabag that has been steeped, it's time to toss this one into the trash heap.

7. If Texas AG Gregg Abbott took the case it must be bad! Abbott is the worst kind of Republican

hypocrit! I, along with several other attorneys in our firm represented over 400 victims of the March 23, 2005, BP plant explosion in Judge Cris's court. Our firm was the only one to go to trial against BP so we got to see a lot of Judge Cris. She is what you want in a Judge, fair, extremely compitant, and consistent. If she was concerned enough to do this he must be nuts!
