Donald Trump to launch crowdfunding site

Source: Crains New York Business

Television personality and businessman Donald Trump is set to announce Wednesday the launch of his latest venture—a crowdfunding site called FundAnything, which is designed to compete with leaders in the field like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo.

Like other properties associated with Mr. Trump, FundAnything uses "the Donald's" brand to promote Mr. Trump as much as it does the product itself.

"I'm giving away MONEY!" reads the banner beneath a photograph of Mr. Trump dressed in a black suit and gold tie.

A company spokeswoman said Mr. Trump is a financial partner but not a founder of the site, which lists as its creators Learning Annex founder Bill Zanker, and entrepreneurs Scott Tilson and Jeno Torocsik. Mr. Trump is a longtime featured lecturer at The Learning Annex, an adult education company.

If I were a cynical person, I would raise money to investigate the President's Birth Certificate, take the cash and head for Hawaii...to retire.

2. What's his cut? I'm sure he's not doing it for free.

The Donald won't take a dump without being paid for it. I've seen his show.

3. from the website...

FundAnything charges a 9% fee on the contributions you collect. When you reach your goal, you’ll get 4% back for a fee of just 5%. Additionally, the payment processing companies charge a fee of approximately 3%.

7. Calling this a Ponzi scheme is an insult

...to Ponzi!

If you're wondering where all the bonus money would come from, it will be the result of "powering up" from being a "fan" to being a "player" via a "license" -- more commonly known as "not finding out until the last minute that you're expected to buy your way in."

10. About 200,000 people already have

but only because they're being told that getting the mobile app is free -- they're not being told up front that they'll have to "buy into" a license if they want to make any money.

It's called Rippln, and one of its creators helped create Facebook. This is their way of distributing their mobile app without going through iTunes or Google Play.
