Connecticut governor signs sweeping gun control law; Obama warns of challenges

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Connecticut governor who told parents that their children had been killed in one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history signed into law tough gun control measures, while President Barack Obama gave his most candid assessment yet of the challenges facing such action at the national level.

Colorado and New York and Connecticut, a state with a deep history of gun making also have passed new gun control requirements in the wake of the December shooting.

Connecticut joins states including California, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts in having the country's strongest gun control laws, said Brian Malte, director of mobilization for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence in Washington.

The legislation adds more than 100 firearms to the state's assault weapons ban and creates what officials have called the nation's first dangerous weapon offender registry, as well as eligibility rules for buying ammunition.

1. biggest challenge is coward senate dems who will not stand for popular issues....

the way to do it is introduce legislation for popular issues and let repubs vote them down. then blast this repub obstructionism to the people. well that isnt very bipartisan so that's out

act as if, try as if.. act like you believe as if. it's worth a try is it not instead of bending over to republicans
