Joe Walsh forming super PAC to fight Karl Rove’s super PAC

Source: Salon

Former Rep. Joe Walsh, R-Ill., announced Tuesday that he is forming a super PAC “to support freedom-loving conservative alternatives” and to fight back against a Karl Rove initiative to keep unelectable Tea Partyers from winning primaries.

Walsh tweeted on Tuesday:

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom
I'm filing the paperwork to form a super PAC to support freedom-loving conservative alternatives to @KarlRove on FOX

He wrote on his Facebook page that “if we had listened to Karl Rove in 2010, there would be no Sen. Marco Rubio. Rove backed Charlie Crist, who was last seen raving about President Obama at the Democrat National Convention last year.” Walsh also referenced Sens. Mike Lee of Utah, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Ted Cruz of Texas, whose opponents were also backed by Rove.

“In fact, if we had listened to Karl Rove in 2010, there never would have been a congressman Joe Walsh. Rove thought openly Tea Party candidates like Walsh couldn’t win,” wrote Walsh, who lost his seat in 2012 to Democrat Tammy Duckworth.

50. not quite.

First, they could never make a circle properly, Some of them would be facing out, others would stand behind someone else, and still others (especially the bible beaters) would be busy looking up the nearest hooker.

It would be much more like two lines facing each other, taking aim. For some reason, scenes from Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines pop into my head, the ones with Benny Hill.

13. The civil war in the GOP is now on

I posted this in a similar thread earlier today:

**

During the primary season, Sarah was batting 1000 until Missouri, when her candidate, Sarah Steelman, who was polling the strongest against democrat Claire McCaskill, and was an almost sure winner, lost to Todd Akin after some shenanigans by democrats. Akin almost immediately lost the election by saying incredibly stupid things, allowing one of the very worst of the worst to be re-elected.

Lesson?

Always listen to Sarah Palin. Chances are you’ll have better results. A couple of other candidates lost their primaries, but for the most part, if Sarah Palin endorsed you in the primary, you won.

That brings us to the general election. Sarah outperformed the Republican Party by a bunch. Out of the eight candidates she endorsed, six of them won:

If you can stomach it, more at: http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.wordpress.com/2012/11/12/endorsement-power-sarah-palin-75-success-karl-rove-100s-of-millions-spent-only-1-success/

Conclusion: If they are listening to Rove about who is electable, they are probably listening to the wrong guy. The Tea Party (the monster Dick Armey created) might very well be able to outperform mainstream Republicans in many areas of the country if it breaks free and becomes its own party.

**

Several things have become clear to me:

1: Chris Christie is racing to grab the political center and position himself as the most electable GOP candidate.
2: The Sarah Palin/Tea Party wing is going to counter "We tried that with Romey and got nowhere. We don't want Christie" They will look to get someone on the Tea Party right to run. They may run as a separate party.
3) Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio will be somewhere on the 2016 GOP ticket.

28. Rove has already won.

He's going the have the most money backing him. The Tea Party (with less money) will be spending money combating his adds rather than trying to get their people elected.

What the Tea Party should do is ignore Rove and concentrate on getting their people winning the primary and somehow try to win the election (Rove will have to back down after the primary is decided).

But the Tea Party is too stupid and proud to a let a fight go unchallenged...so Rove has them doing exactly what he wants them to do, spending money in all the wrong places.

33. Sarah Palin made millions from her PAC

Joe Walsh is looking to create a similar cash cow for himself. He should clean up nicely before he fades into almost certain oblivion. He doesn't have the charisma of Palin so I don't expect him to be around for as long as she managed to be but he should do well in the short term.

He's an opportunistic grifter, like Sarah, hoping to cash in on what minimal amount of fame his 2 years in Congress brought him.

He'll muddy the waters for the GOP with his teabagger nonsense and that is good for us.

54. Walsh Wants To Extend His 15 Minutes Of Fame......

the guy is a complete idiot. Last summer I saw him many times around the district campaigning. All of the times I saw him - the only people around him were his entourage. Voters in the district shunned him. He was like a magnet that repelled. People ran from him. I'm glad he lost.

Now with him coming up with this PAC scheme - I wonder how soon we will begin to see him pop up on the cable news shows spewing his idiocy. You all know that the cable news shows will be seeking him out to put him out there. He relishes in that limelight. In some respects I can't wait to see him destroy what little is left of both the Tea Party and the Repug Party.

This ought to be fun. Sit back and enjoy.

On their investment. Lets hope that trend continues.

The Koch brothers are interesting to me. IIRC they funded the PBS show Nova and one of the performance halls in Lincoln Center. Yet the attitudes of so many of the politicians they support are big anti science and anti arts reactionaries.

If they really want to part with their money they should continue funding PBS and the arts.
