Source: BBC

South Korea and the US have begun three days of naval exercises in what is being seen as a show of force aimed at North Korea.

The scheduled drills, involving a US nuclear submarine, come after North Korea said it was planning to carry out its third test of a nuclear device.

The US and South Korea have promised "significant consequences" if it goes ahead with the underground explosion.

2. Wasn't aware NK had ability to be nuclear threat beyond repetitive impotent bluster.

Seriously, it's adorable when the North Korean leadership stops their little feet and pouts, knowing full-well if they started shit it'd be over for them and their hold on power shortly thereafter.

3. Love how NK's complaint is about "war-mongering" (whether it is or isn't).

4. I always have to wonder about these significant consequences

Always a war of words between the two sides - I'm sure there'll be no real consequences...there weren't when the South Korean patrol vessel was sunk and when they shelled that island.
