Neither the electric offense of the San Francisco 49ers or the bizarre power outage at the Superdome could deny the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII.
Despite nearly squandering a 28-6 lead in the second half, John Harbaugh's Ravens held on for a thrilling 34-31 win.
Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco threw three touchdowns, without once being intercepted, as he racked up 287 passing yards. Called "dull" by his own father during the buildup to the game, Flacco completed a masterful postseason by winning the championship and being named Super Bowl MVP.
Leading 21-6 at halftime, the Ravens stretched their lead to 28-6 with a stunning 108-yard kickoff return by Jacoby Jones to open the second half. To their credit, the 49ers refused to go quietly into the New Orleans night. Perhaps helped by a bizarre power outage, the 49ers gathered and rallied. With the pistol offense suddenly firing, Colin Kaepernick lead San Francisco on four scoring drives in the second half, closing within 31-29 in the fourth quarter. In the final moments of the game, Kaepernick and the Niners were within striking distance of a go-ahead score but a fourth-down pass attempt for Michael Crabtree fell incomplete.

(3,165 posts)As a 49ers fan, im disappointed, but it was a thrilling game....Niners blew it - too many times Ravens converted on 3rd down, the kick off return, couple dumb penalties, turnovers, drive at end when they couldn't score after having 1st & goal..

(5,719 posts)After the 108 yard TD run for Jones, they were pumped, and then the outage happened. Their momentum was completely shot.

(3,469 posts)My Facebook page exploded when the Ravens won. My niece has season tickets and most of my friends and family are die-hard Ravens fans. We left Maryland in November and this is te first night I've felt a little homesick. Happy night though. Yay Ravens!

(721 posts)In the past I have had no interest in what I considered a rather barbaric display.
But this year I was prodded by a friend (female) to watch the game, so I did.
I have to say, it was a different experience than what I was expecting.
I was excited at times during the game.
I might watch again next year.

(4,056 posts)We're all Zombies today in the Bay Area, but IMO, if we had to lose I'd rather go down to Baltimore than to a place like Dallas. Baltimore (where I was born, BTW) is liberal, poor and mostly African American, kinda like Detroit. They deserve a great celebration and some love!
But c'mon guys: Charm City??? I know you gave us John Waters, and I'm hoping that's supposed to be ironic.
