News reports said that there is no damage inside the embassy and that all personnel have been moved to safe rooms inside the building.

ISTANBUL, Turkey — A suicide bomber attacked the U.S. Embassy in the Turkish capital of Ankara, killing one Turkish security guard along with the bomber, Ankara Govenor Aladdin Yuksel told Turkish news media.

The explosion went off at the entrance used by embassy personnel and their visitors, after a lone suicide bomber passed through the X-ray machine, Turkish news media reported.

News reports said that there is no damage inside the embassy and that all personnel have been moved to safe rooms inside the building. Turkish television footage showed a door blown out and pieces of the wall around it scattered in front of the entrance.

2. "Or the attack could be a minor group trying to calling attention to itself,"

You have to remember one thing about this region of the world:

5. According to the Interior Minister

of Turkey, it is a minor group known as the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C). They're illegal in Turkey. The bomber was identified as one Ecevit Şanlı, age 30.

Here's a link to the story: http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/suicide-bomber-member-of-an-outlawed-leftist-group-turkish-interior-minister-says.aspx?pageID=238&nID=40308&NewsCatID=341

And here's the Wiki entry on the group: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutionary_People%27s_Liberation_Party-Front

I have to admit, the name and history of this group is actually somewhat Pythonesque.

8. I can't say

that would surprise me one iota.

Apparently, the group in question does have a history of using suicide bombers as a method of attack.

Lot's of people don't know this, but the "suicide bomber" actually originated with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (a special unit known as the Black Tigers) during their long guerilla war with the Sri Lankan government. Apparently it was so successful as a tactic, other militant organizations picked it up and emulated it.

9. EVERY group over there thinks of using bombs....

Makes me wonder about the history. It's one thing to plant a bomb and quite another to strap it around yourself.

I mean,...it sure makes a small group smaller.

6. This is a tough one...

Is this the fault of Clinton or Kerry?

I'll have to go to Breitbart to find out.

10. I'm glad to hear the blast was contained

and sorry to hear of the deaths and injuries. I live overseas in South Korea and we are always warned by our embassy of the possibility of some kind of an attack within the country. In the end, I'm grateful I live here rather in the Middle East as it is much less likely to happen.
