During his years as mayor, from 1978 to 1989, his tight fiscal policies pulled the city out of severe financial difficulties. But homelessness and racial tensions soared and critics charged that

6. I certainly won't miss him

I know it's not nice to speak ill of the dead, but I thought he was an obnoxious loudmouth.

9. Well, this makes a longtime NY'er laugh

In April 2008, Koch shelled out $20,000 to buy a plot in Trinity Cemetery on Riverside Drive the only Manhattan cemetery that still had room.

I don't want to leave Manhattan, even when I'm gone, he said at the time. This is my home. The thought of having to go to New Jersey was so distressing to me.

Often disagreed with Koch but he was always genuinely passionate about the city.

14. After his treachery in 2004 I won't say I'll miss him

Prefer not to dance on graves but what he did in 2004 was downright ghastly. Beyond the pale.

15. Need to agree...

History of: early support of Iraq War.
endorsed Giuliani,Al D'Amato, Peter King, George Pataki and in 2004, George Bush
VERY slow to address the growing AIDS epidemic in NYC in the 80s
huge increase in homelessness, poverty, racial disharmony

Not my kind of Democrat.

16. Exactly why I won't miss him

Any "democrat" who endorsed bush, let alone all those other horrid characters, belongs in the Joe Lieberman pile of shitty democrats.

But I do remember his lambasting of the Superbowl-winning New Youk Giants as a 'foreign' football team, which I thoroughly agreed with.
