Schumer Showers McCain With Praise At Immigration Reform Presser

DAVID TAINTOR 2:55 PM EST, MONDAY JANUARY 28, 2013

At a press conference Monday afternoon announcing an immigration reform deal, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) showered Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) with praise, saying his Republican colleague has been the glue holding the bipartisan group of senators together.

"His wisdom, his strength, his courage, his steadfastness and many other adjectives that I'll skip at the moment, have really been inspiring to me and, I think, to all of us," Schumer said.

Schumer On Immigration Reform: This Will Be The Year Congress ‘Finally Gets It Done’

DAVID TAINTOR 2:46 PM EST, MONDAY JANUARY 28, 2013

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Monday said he and the other senators who support immigration reform believe 2013 will be the year Congress "finally gets it done."

"The politics on this issue have been turned upside down," Schumer said on Capitol Hill. "For the first time ever, there is more political risk in opposing immigration reform than in supporting it. We believe we have a window of opportunity to act, but we will only succeed if the effort is bipartisan."

1. "His wisdom, his strength, his courage, his steadfastness and many other adjectives'

I can think of a few other adjectives.

2. Gimme a bucket, ahm gonna trow up.

Not one of these repug assholes believes in this. It's the least damaging thing they can do for their own careers. That's all that's in play here.

3. Good christ. Every time I see the smoochfests between McWalnuts and all the

other Dem Senators (including Kerry and Clinton) I get sick to my stomach.

6. I have become so tired of these daytime serials!

None of these actors will ever win an award. From where I sit there is not much difference between Schumer and McCain.

7. Schumer knows the only way . . .

to get McPain on board is to shower him with praise, deserved or not. McGrumpy just eats stuff up that keeps his name and image out there. He's the supreme attention whore and jumps on any issue he thinks is "hot" enough to get national media attention. He's been doing it for years.

11. This is one of the few issues McCain has been good on.

In 2006 the reform bill he passed with Ted Kennedy got 66 votes before the bigots torpedoed it.
