NRA Lobbyist Admits Ad Referencing Obama’s Daughters Was ‘Ill-Advised’

ERIC LACH 2:19 PM EST, FRIDAY JANUARY 25, 2013

In an interview with Reuters, the head of the federal affairs division at the National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action acknowledged that a controversial ad released by the NRA earlier this month -- which referenced President Obama's daughters -- was "ill-advised."

"I don't think it was particularly helpful, that ad," Jim Baker said. "I thought it ill-advised."

From Reuters:

"I think the ad could have made a good point, if it talked about the need for increased school security, without making the point using the president's children," he said. The NRA has advocated putting armed guards in schools

Baker was the NRA's representative at a meeting with Vice President Joseph Biden on January 10 to discuss the administration's plans to reduce gun violence in the wake of the school shooting.

He said he was not involved in creating the ad, and once it appeared, he had let others at the NRA know what he thought. "I got to say my piece," he said. Baker gave no details of the their response to him, but said, "Believe it or not, there are occasionally differences of opinion in this building."

2. Ya think?

It was as an offensive, vile ad as I've ever seen.
It's like the NRA has a saboteur on the inside.

4. And they need to ferret out the perp straight away and promote him to VP of Communications. . .

I love to see the NRA shoot themselves in the foot.

6. Ya think. It's friightening that those at the NRA are some of

the dumbest mofos on the Planet.

Plus I read that the ad was a lie.. There aren't "armed guards". Just the Secret Service who are everywhere for the First Daughters.

Thanks DV

7. It wasn't 'Ill-Advised', it was 'In-Your-Face'

The people who were offended by that ad will be even more offended by lame excuses.

9. They're truly out of touch

The NRA can go fuck themselves, honestly. They could care less about the well being of the people in this country. At the end of the day, they've got blood on their hands - the blood of countless innocent children.
