N.J. Mayor Cory Booker Helps Rescue Freezing Dog

Source: ABC News

While out working on a story in freezing New Jersey, a reporter and camera crew from New York station WABC-TV noticed a dog left out in the cold.

Hours later, when they passed by again and saw that the dog was still outside, they decided to take the issue to Twitter, and the mayor.

Reporter Toni Yates tweeted N.J. Mayor Cory Booker and WABC. In the tweet, she applauded Newark for its heat help, but added, “Make pet owners get their dogs out of the cold.”

In another tweet, she wrote that she asked the block captain to “do something, call someone,” but doubted he would.

Apparently the owners didn't know that she had gotten out (they were moving or something like that). She's a new mom, but luckily her puppies didn't get out.

is based on Cory Booker, not a Marvel comic.

Somebody should follow him around to see if he carries a bow and arrow and wears a hood.

Booker the fire fighter. Quite likely this is not encouraged
for 2nd responders. Heroic yes! Smart, thats questionable.
Now it boils down to a little doggie? (Remember Nixon's
doggie) This stuff can be harmful.

Come on?! Are we this gullible that we are going to fall for this Arnold Schwarzenegger, super-hero, BS every time??? Once, I can see. But how many times has Booker been in the news for rescuing people?

Why does the mayor of a city need to personally rescue dogs and pull people out of burning buildings? Doesn't he know how to designate work and community responsibilities?

I smell political theater. I know people here will disagree with me but Booker is on my watch list for poorly executed demagoguery. This is really getting to be too unbelievable.

What's telling, I think, is that there was a police officer at the scene with a patrol car (who very well could have gotten the dog himself if directed to), AND there just happened to be someone with a video camera there as well. We could be wrong in reaching this conclusion, but I just have a feeling we're not.

the last straw for me with Booker. I had suspected political theater of him awhile ago but kept my mouth shut because, well, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt (to an extent I still do). But this is getting too much. I'm from New Jersey and I'm well aware of the typical lugheads we have here and Booker is setting off alarms for me. I mean, where is the kind of intelligent and nuanced political commentary and thought from him you expect to see from a great democratic politician? Instead we see cheap and dumbed down physical acts of heroism. Something's not right.

Then again, I'll probably feel like crap tomorrow for doubting his motives.

That's why the camera crew was there with their perfect lighting. They went by the dog twice and saw he was still outside.

The mayor stepped in to help and took the opportunity to use it as a teaching moment.

I think he's a good dude.

People began re-tweeting the messages, and soon enough the mayor was on the scene with the shivering dog.

He used it as a "teachable moment." It got on WABC because the camera crew was from there.

To me, that's a thoughtful guy.

I'm sorry. i've been watching this guy for years, I live in NJ. He is constantly posing. He had the reality show Brick City and the media constantly shows his acts of bravery. It seems too premeditated. He is bought by big money and very ambitious. I don't know what to think of him. I want to like him, but it's hard. I think he is pure propaganda they are trying to sell us.

is he's not that bright. He thinks he's getting himself to Washington with this act but it's slowly discrediting his legitimacy bit by bit. People are smarter than this in the big bad world. We need intelligent democratic politicians, not action heros. I think he doesn't know how to play the academically smart politician, as seen by his mistake of expressing a counter view on national tv against the president during the election campaign, and so he sticks with the action figure formula. He's got to change that and bring some brains to the table.

A freezing mother was rescued, and the opportunity was taken advantage of to remind people to keep their pets warm. Remember, there were pups depending on mom's safe return.
