Mark Zuckerberg To Host Fundraiser For Chris Christie

Source: TPM/WSJ

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg will host a fundraiser in support of the re-election campaign of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

The event will be held on Feb. 13 in the Palo Alto, Calif. home of Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan. Zuckerberg first met Christie in 2010, after the social media mogul made a $100 million donation to public schools in Newark, N.J. A spokeswoman for Facebook told the Journal that the two have worked closely since then and that Zuckerberg admires Christie's "leadership on education reform and other issues."

Boasting staggeringly high approval ratings and personal popularity, Christie is widely expected to breeze to re-election this year.

Little prick.

This is his real, actual business card.

2. In a sane world

there would be something illegal about flying 3000 miles away from your electorate for a campaign cash grab...

I'm *really* trying hard to stick with Facebook, but this assclown isn't making it easy...And if that business card is real, jesus fuckin' christ...(someone at least tell him "bitch" should have a lowercase "b")

3. From the comments section:

"Everybody please just turn away from Facebook and live a little."

I do not have a facebook account and never will.
I am not going to put every minute detail of my life on the net for everyone to see and for it to be sold to marketers.

4. That card kind of explains facebook policy...

... as to user privacy, data mining, sneaky "click here" that trashes your personal page/timeline/close friends, etc... and further turns your personal information into an objects of Mark's whims. I, too, often consider junking my Facebook endeavors.

5. What an asshole.

Now, are any of you actually going to stop using facebook, or are you going to rationalize donating to this Republican POS? I bet you can do it! I see enough rationalizing Walmart-shopping around here that rationalizing this should be easy.

9. As do I... no question there.

However, if facebook were the answer to that, wouldn't you have one already?

10. Ha! Why, oh WHY am I not surprised?

When I said the guy seemed like a bit of a putz, I got a lot of pushback for my personal opinion.

I'm not pleased that he is a rather Huge Putz, but I am pleased that my Asshole Radar is still working well.

That card is just NOT funny. And I'm not even talking about the "B" word on it, either--we all know about that "I'm Rick James" skit that Dave Chappelle made famous, and I'm assuming he is riffing on that thing. One could make a case that the "B" word is inappropriate in any event, skits notwithstanding, but I won't even go there as I'm sure others could make the point far better than me.

My main problem is more general--it's the implied "declaration" on the card. Only someone with a VERY low self esteem has a need to throw down and beat his chest and bellow about how important he is, even while hiding behind a so-called "joke" to do it. I wouldn't be surprised if he picked fights with people and then had a bodyguard do the fisticuffs FOR him...

This clown is rich as Croesus, you'd think he'd take the time to learn that small talent of walking humbly, speaking quietly, listening often, rather than coming off like a crass, stupid, childish boor.

11. Bloated

I'd love to see a Republican with another bloated war chest go down to a grass roots supported Democrat.

14. Another reason I'm glad I've avoided the Facebook cult.

Facebook's entire business model is based on violating its users' privacy.

So it's no surprise Zuckerberg's fundraising for a Republican.

An interesting alternative to Facebook is Diaspora. Although it's got an uphill climb against the ubiquitous Facebook, I'm interested in this project.

Shouldn't be a surprise he's a Republican.
