Groupon Suspends Gun-Related Deals
Gun shop owner calls for boycott

(Newser) Groupon has dropped all current and future gun-related deals after what it says was pressure from customers, the Los Angeles Times reports. The daily deals site says all shooting range, conceal-and-carry and clay shooting deals have been suspended while it "reviews internal standards." Groupon joins several other firms that have backed away from gun-related businesses in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting.

A Texas gun shop owner affected by the move is calling for a boycott, CNET reports. "I'm asking everyone in the Second Amendment community to boycott Groupon, because the message they're sending is, 'Look, we do not want to support law-abiding citizens taking time out of their schedule to learn the safety surrounding firearms,'" he said after a promotion for his concealed-handgun training course was abruptly canceled.

2. Good. The mainstream view of guns is now that they are associated with the irrational.

Good business decision.

3. They got that one right

There are very negative references in regard to their working environment ("white collar sweat shop"). I hope their innovative PR decisions might one day lead to more innovative internal practices.
