Obama bashes congressional obstruction in weekly address
(CNN) - In his weekly address Saturday, President Barack Obama took aim at Congressional Republicans blocking White House nominations and pieces of legislation for what he said were political ends.
"Just two days ago, a senator from Utah promised to obstruct every single American I appoint to a judgeship or public service position – unless I fire the consumer watchdog I put in place to protect the American people from financial schemes or malpractice," Obama said. SNIP Obama took harsh aim at Lee and other Republicans in his address, calling their motives purely political. "One of his aides told reporters that the senator plans to, and I'm quoting here, 'Delay and slow the process in order to get the president's attention,'" Obama said. "This isn't about me. We weren't sent here to wage perpetual political campaigns against each other. We were sent here to serve the American people. And they deserve better than gridlock and games. One senator gumming up the works for the whole country is certainly not what our founding fathers envisioned." SNIP "Tell your member of Congress that it's time to end the gridlock, and start tackling the issues that really matter – an economy built on American manufacturing, American energy, American skills and education, and a return to American values," Obama said. "An economy built to last." http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/28/obama-bashes-congressional-obstruction-in-weekly-address/

keep repeating it until it sinks in. Repubs are unamerican, against American manufacturing, energy, skills, education, values. Make them vote against tax cuts for small businesses.

9. Did he add, ''Therefore, give me DEMOCRATS in Congress who will do the right thing''?
|
This bipartisan shtick is wearing thin, and if I recall correctly, triangulation might have got Bill Clinton back into the White House, but had microscopic coattails in Congress.
He needs to say there are real differences between the two parties and those differences have profound effects on people's lives. The primary purpose of the bipartisanship seems to be avoiding scaring the very wealthy and reassuring them that their dinner will still be served even if the head butler is a bit nicer to the servants and throws them a few more scraps than his predecessor. |

10. And not too soon. They have become a nuisance. Like foolish pouting children.
|
They cannot quite digest the true problems of running a working democracy and really, they do not wish to solve any problems. When things are in disarray it is easier for them to take advantage and skim off their cut and divert the rest to people who will be able to pay them back somehow in the future.
It's a shame that responsibility, to them, only involves furthering themselves and their own little circles of cohorts. |

11. They were obstructing from day one
|
He should have been in their face about it two years ago, maybe we would have had a better result in 2010 the elections
That goes for the dem congress as well, they have to fight as well, a lot of them came in on Obamas' coattails in 08, they should have his back. When he rises in the polls they are there, when he slips because of the obstruction, they run. He should go to that senators state and point out his obstructionism to have consumer protection from payday lenders, abusive interest rates etc. That senator would rather take money from banking lobby than raise the money himself. He is representing the banks instead of the interests of the people who put him in office. The Dem party in that state should expose him and his donners, not leave it to Obama to do everything. |

He has fought obstructionism ever since he took office. I really hope people are listening and understanding instead of letting his words go in one ear and out the other with no comprehension.
