NBC/WSJ Poll: Nearly Half Have A Negative View Of GOP

Source: TPM

TOM KLUDT 8:42 AM EST, FRIDAY JANUARY 18, 2013

The American people currently hold the Republican Party in very low esteem, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll that was released Thursday night.

In the poll, only 26 percent of respondents said they have a positive opinion of the GOP, including just six percent who said they have a "very" positive impression of the party. What's more, 49 percent said they view the party negatively the highest negative rating given to Republicans in the NBC/WSJ survey since 2008.

The poll showed the Democratic Party, by contrast boasting, an above-water favorability rating: 44 percent of those polled said they have a positive opinion of Dems, compared with 38 percent who said they have a negative opinion.

3. Exactly. Between trying to shut down the govt., being obsessed with rape

and generally not caring about issues the general public cares about no wonder they are in the toilet.

2. This Poll may

have those numbers for looking slightly good for Democrats now from the Wall Street Journal but why should anybody take a Wall Street Poll serious? They have the potential to manipulate Public Policy by manipulating their Polls. They can get a Poll to say anything they want at a certain point in time. So I question the Wall Street Journal's credibility. When you see people connected to Wall Street ranting in a hostile manner about Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, why should anybody trust these people's Polling? The pundits give them credibility. I don't trust those people either for what it is worth.

4. NBC/Wall St. Journal had pretty good polling during the Presidential Election.

As did CBS. ABC skewed a bit to the right but overall none of them were bad like Gallup or Rasmussen. They have a pretty decent reputation.

5. i disagree with you.

The Presidential Election was not close and none of them had President Obama winning with well over 300 Electoral votes of those Polls. None of them predicted the turn out of Hispanics of minorities. Do you believe the Wall Street Journal call minorities or even give weight to the opinions of those groups. Just who do you believe the readership of the Wall Street Journal represents? I live in an African American Community with a nearby University and I don't see people reading the Wall Street Journal. So who are you going to believe? I knew the sentiment of people in my community because I live there. I don't know anybody where I live wants the President to compromise or cut Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid except the Wall Street readership which are mostly white and upperclass. Like the Jerk on Morning Joe this morning claiming people are free loaders for receiving Disability benefits early. I don't receive my Social Security yet but to me, those are fighting words. The only difference, this jerk has the Wall Street Journal and is on T.V. President Obama knows what the people that really elected him put him there for and sure isn't to cave to people that support the Wall Street Journal. You can call them respectable all you want. they also need some diversity in the whitehouse Press Corp, like from the Hispanic and African American communities besides these jerks! We need to hear other opinions besides the usual Pundits. That is a glass ceiling needs to be cracked too! I'm tired of the same ole Pollsters you call respectable.

6. D'oh

Americans just don't like greedy lying fear-and-hate driven hypocrites who are constantly out to enrich themselves and screw other people. You don't need no steenkin survey to understand that basic fact.

When the day comes that Republicans abandon their degraded so-called "Republican Family Values" and decide instead to embrace American Values, they will at long last regain a smidgen of respect.

9. The Democrats could make some impressive gains by

stop enabling and following the Republicans over the cliff.

By actually running and backing more Liberals and Progressives and less 3rd Way and DINO's in state and national elections. And stop appointing Republicans to the various appointed offices! Just stop it already!

I saw Megyn Kelly reporting this on Fox News..she left out this part of the survey and only talked about the percent that think the country is going in the wrong direction.. Gee..does this mean that Fox is not giving me a balanced view of things??
