Missing the Mark: Texas Lawmakers Stick To Their Guns, Obama Considers Executive Action

Source: Burnt Orange Report

A new poll by Gallup shows attitudes about gun regulations have warmed since the tragedies of Sandy Hook and Aurora but there is no evidence to suggest it will be sustained. If history serves Vice President Joe Biden has a limited time frame to lead the administration's task of substantive changes, including an assault weapons ban, to the countries laws regarding gun safety. According to Gallup, "they are clearly more open to further restricting the sale of guns, including with more background checks and bans on high-capacity magazines." Gallup also concludes Americans are not willing to budge on handgun ownership even though they make up the bulk of casualties.

The debate so far has given more ammo to Texas lawmakers who have made a career of fighting the federal government. Tuesday a Freshman Steve Toth (R-Woodlands) said he would file a "Firearm Protection Act" to prevent Obama's 19 possible executive orders from being enforced adding "It is our responsibility to push back when those laws are infringed by King Obama,"...

2. As much as I support some decent measures of gun control

Taking executive action on this could be VERY risky and make it harder for him to get other things he wants done.

4. Poppa Bush did it.

I just saw Rev. Sharp ton show a photo from President issuing an executive order against automatic or semi automatic and there was no impeaching or stopping him from governing. Oh, I forgot the elephant in the white house is black.

6. Reagan and Clinton both did it. Reagan after California school shooting. But I get your point

with the right wingers funding insane attack campaigns, most of America won't ever know that. You're talking about people who have a Freshman Representative who used the term "King Obama" formally to the press. That is so disrespectful. Clearly they have no respect for the government.

3. Found a great link for executive order comparison.

http://factcheck.org/2012/09/obamas-executive-orders/

Interesting info about the repug crazies claiming Obama has used 900 executives orders, all of them apparently dealing with martial law.
