(10,892 posts)I also didn't see anything in Wal-mart's home page nor anything on their ammunition page http://www.walmart.com/browse/hunting/guns,-rifles-ammunition/4125_4155_1088608/?_refineresult=true&facet=category%3ARifle+Ammunition%7C%7Ccategory%3AShotgun+Ammunition%7C%7Ccategory%3AHandgun+Ammunition&povid=cat4155-env458156-moduleB120712-lLinkFC3Ammo
I searched some news sites (as opposed to a web search) and saw nothing.
(I also did a general Google of web sites and that's where I see the gun-nut and RW websites and nothing legitimate).
The Investment Watch blog link that the OP's article links to -- http://investmentwatchblog.com/breaking-confirmed-wal-mart-is-not-going-to-order-any-more-ammo/
is dated January 12 -- if it were true, by now, 2 days later, it would be all over the news.
And if it were true, it would not be good news -- Walmart would only do this for purposes of riling up the gun nuts.

(30,252 posts)...is the issue of who is actually selling ammunition to the general public. Is it some trainee who just turned 18 last week, or is it someone with a little more experience to size up potential buyers?
I don't believe in restricting or unduly taxing ammo sales, but I am open to limiting somewhat the channels through which ammo can be purchased.

(5,364 posts)Moderate turned rightie ( and also turned gun-nut ) and an adoring fan of Wal-Mart as it is. You can't have a conversation with him with hearing him mention Wal-Mart this and Wal-Mart that every minute or so: What he bought there, what he wants to buy there, what I could buy there ( if I wasn't so inexplicably stubborn in my dislike of it ) and now his recent paranoia about gun laws ( even before the school shooting ) must have him shitting sideways.

Many right wing connections, I don't really trust much coming from them.

(175 posts)they are lamenting that the Walmart shelves have been bare of ammo for a while.
This news presumably means they won't be re-stocking them.
Now, I trust Walmart about as far as I can throw them, but I think it's encouraging that some bigger establishments (DicksSporting Goods, now Walmart) are pulling back on firearm related sales, even if only a little. Reasonable gun control would be easy if we could generate the passion and mobility that the MUCH SMALLER pro-gun constituency is able to generate. Why isn't there a boycott of Walmart and other sporting goods stores until they stop selling guns? We seem able to mobilize for a while when passion is high after a mass shooting, but then the momentum dies.
We need to go after anyone who profits off guns with the same or more ferocity we went after Rush with when he called Sandra Fluck a slut.

Not sure what the protocol is for this...can I ask someone to delete the thread or just let it run its course?
