I know it's not the law, but no one will force this pervert to do what she did to her flesh and blood. She's getting off easy. The court should strip her parental rights. But they won't unless they have a law that says they must since children seem to be regarded as property in some societies. They may share the same DNA, but what she did was beyond the pale, not her right:

She pimped out her own daughter and will Only get twenty-five years?? That's BS. If a man was caught with a Picture of her underage daughter HE could get Thirty years. What the Hell?? She should get the same penalty as any other rapist.

Actually I believe 25-to-life is about the same sentence as 2nd-degree murder ... in fact I'd bet many people get sentenced to less than 25 years for 2nd degree murder.

I'm not downplaying how 'wrong' this is, merely pointing out that it's fairly 'in-line' with what I'd expect, personally. If a person can spontaneously KILL someone else (i.e. 2nd degree murder, aka murder w/o premeditation ... vehicular homicide via drunk-driving, for example) and only get 25-to-life, then I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the punishment for the crime(s) at hand to be similar.

This being said, the conditions under which all this went down would (to me) play a role in determining whether or not this woman deserves to get 'life'. If this poor child was locked in a basement, denied food and water unless she complied, and/or administered drugs against her will then I would say YES, this woman absolutely deserves to spend her the rest of her life in jail. Due to prevailing sensitivities surrounding such matters, I will decline to outline the possible 'opposite end of the spectrum', but lets just say, if it was actually the opposite situation ... then I think 25 years could perhaps be reasonable/appropriate.

Bottom-line I trust the court/jury to consider the overall circumstances and mete out an appropriate sentence in this case.

Also, a 'man' would not get 30 years in jail for possessing a picture of her underage daughter. I don't know for a fact, but my guess is that the penalty for possession of a picture of a 14 year old in a compromising position would probably be more like 5 years. That's assuming the possessor was in no way involved in the 'production' of the photo (including actually paying for the picture), his only involvement was to 'possess' it ... I'd guess it'd land you like 5 years and a spot on the watch-list for the rest of your life.

My pointing this out does not in ANY WAY mean I don't think this whole thing is just about the sickest/saddest story I've ever heard, nor that I don't hope to see the friggin BOOK thrown at this woman. I'm just saying that I believe that a penalty that is JUST below what you'd expect for the most heinous of all crimes (aka 1st degree murder) ... is appropriately severe in this despicable case.

She didn't pimp out her daughter "without premeditation" or abuse her "without premeditation" (at least not if it happened more than once).

I hope she has some nice family to stay with. It's always those people that spew "family values" that turn out to be the worst of the worst.

I can see being anti-tax - you think this will help you pay less in tax; I can see being anti-war if you have a kid who might end up in the military. Even being anti-______ because you're worried that if the ______ people move in, you think property values will decline. But what is the point of expending ANY effort being anti-gay? What advantage does it provide to the hater? I can even maybe see some dumbass maybe voting for some anti-gay initiative because their minister told them to, but beyond voting, if a person has gone out of their way to publicize or work for an anti-gay cause, I just assume automatically they have HUGE issues with their own sexuality.
