George P. Bush gears up for political run

Source: AP

AUSTIN, Texas George Prescott Bush is gearing up to run for a little-known but powerful office in a state where his family already is a political dynasty and where his Hispanic roots could help extend a stranglehold on power Republicans have enjoyed for two decades.

The 36-year-old Fort Worth attorney says he is close to settling on campaigning for Texas land commissioner next year. He doesn't expect to make up his mind until he knows what Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a fellow Republican, decides to do.

"We for sure are running, the question is the office," Bush told The Associated Press during the first interview about his political future since filing paperwork in November to seek elected office in Texas.

Bush's father is former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, his grandfather is former President George H.W. Bush and his uncle is former President and Texas Gov. George W. Bush. Perry has been governor since George W. left for the White House.

Land commissioner traditionally has been a steppingstone to higher office, but Bush said little about any plans to eventually become a national political force.

2. This is why the repubs have the house and governorships

they fully stock the states from bottom up

democrats, and the people in the state democratic party, except for a few states
(California, NY, Illinois and a mere handful of others), just look at the senate, governor, and above.

and this kills us as we don't have a bench

Jeb is running for President. And most likely will win the nomination.
(foorghetabout them giving it to Christie)
I fully expect GP to win whatever he runs for in Texas.

Hope one day Chelsea47 whips GPB's ass when the two down the road will enevitably face off against each other, after Hillary45 kicks Jebs.

It behooves the Dems to move quick on immigration, 100% amnesty, citizenship and other things and make sure we don't cede the minority vote in any group to the republicans

but stealthly they are going to try and get those voters.

21. State and city Govt is all about greased palms.

It's a perfect environment for viruses like Pub scum to grow in. Though no party is immune in a system where many positions are part time and low paying.

19. It can be argued

that in Texas the commissioner jobs are more powerful than the governorship. They control a lot of patronage jobs and exert a lot of power.

29. Indeed, Jim Hightower (who ought to know) said

the same thing. Everybody knew what a figurehead Wubya was and also possibly the laziest Texas governor in a long time. A staffer said he used to come in late, take two hour lunches and then leave early. There was one thing that Wubya did with enthusiasm - he signed plenty of authorizations for the death penalty. A truly despicable man and a disaster for our country. Congress should pass some kind of law that prevents any Bush from ever again holding public office, The whole damn family is a scourge.

3. Gearing Up For Presidential Run

From the article it seems to me that he is considering running for governor of Texas. Land Commissioner seems to be the second choice, but Perry stands in the way of him running for that office. If he runs for governor of Texas, and wins, his next step would likely be to run for President.

So, is this article a warning shot to Texas Governor Rick Perry. Is this the party big wigs telling Perry to move aside so Bush can begin to lay the ground works for a presidential run? Is there a chance that in the next few years Governor Perry will decide to retire from Texas political office?

4. Bring it on

Personally I'm not sure anybody named Bush can win high elective office anywhere in the US even Texas.

Maybe this is a dry run for W's pudgy brother's 2016 pres prospects.

I think they're gonna find it's WAY too soon.

Awww... They DON'T know how to serve anything but cocktails or coke when it comes to it, but they DAMN sure know they want an office... just like another pony.

This time, the hybrid is to get those hispanics. When you follow an act like Rick Perry, he's best to go straight to the 'Gubnership', I tell ya, cause there won't be any land worth running for when it's dried up and pumped to death with horizontal drilling.

Of course, there's all that money to be had...

No, I don't think I WILL read more... What these people need is a deportation to Guantanamo!

Decades ago, anticipating such a need, it was decided by the Illuminati that a Bush would breed with a Latina woman, in order to influence the casting of votes many years later.

32. George Pee Shrub. "running, the question is the office." Talk about entitlement.

His mama said one reason they moved to Florida was that she experienced discrimination against her in Texas. This would be White Rethugs (are there any other kind of Rethugs?!1) discriminating against her. So since George Pee is counting on his Hispanic-ism to garner Hispanic votes, does this mean his Mexicanism has been cleansed out enough out of him?!1

It's undeniable that the Shrubs have unlocked the secret of appealing to Texas Hispanics: 1) Be from some other part of the country somewhat devoid of 150 yrs of Texas prejudice. 2) Smile, hug, and say "amigo."

Now, the one with brains, Jeb Crow Shrub, is THE profound threat because he's not stupid and his Spanish is perfect. Not that voting Hispanics need Spanish, but it's the ability to convey *friendliness* that matters. And Hispanics are starved for friendliness as opposed to discrimination. Goodhair and other Rethugs can GUT Medicaid and Planned Parenthood and everything else that Hispanics might benefit from, but the following week he/they visit Hispanic regions, pose hugging them with mariachis in the background, and they don't get a single boo. All it takes is a smile, hug, "amigo".

Then there are Vichy minority members like Ruben NAVARRETTE and Linda CHAVEZ, don't get me started. Oh, last week NAVARRETTE was extolling the Cuban TeaBagger Ted CRUZ as a model Hispanic. CNN.com features a-holes like NAVARRETTE who are not "traditional voices" of their home groups, iow Vichy-ites.

.....be like his Uncle....

"Metro-Dade Police Department report....On December 31, 1994, Bushs showed up at 4 AM at the Miami home of a former girlfriend. He proceeded to break into the house via the woman's bedroom window, and then began arguing with his ex's father. Bush, then a Rice University student, soon fled the scene. But he returned 20 minutes later to drive his Ford Explorer across the home's front lawn, leaving wide swaths of burned grass in his wake. Young Bush avoided arrest when the victims declined to press charges."

Nice....stable...presidential material in the Bush legacy for certain....
