Ford to add 2,200 U.S. salaried jobs this year

Source: Detroit Free Press

Ford is adding 2,200 U.S. salaried jobs this year -- the most white-collar hiring the automaker has done in more than 10 years.

The jobs will be in such areas as product development, manufacturing and information technology. They are full-time Ford jobs with benefits -- not agency or contract workers. Ford ended 2012 with 28,000 salaried workers in North America. Openings will be posted on the Ford Careers website at www.careers.ford.com .

Ford did not disclose the exact locations where the new salaried jobs will be, but "a significant number will be in southeast Michigan," said spokesman Todd Nissen.

Last month, the Free Press reported that Ford plans to create 2,350 hourly jobs and invest $773 million in six southeast Michigan plants by 2015.

1. I'm getting ready to buy a newer car this year and I like Fords

I've been impressed by the styles of many of them and their technology seems to be keeping pace with foreign competitors. Prices are lower too. I love my Toyota, but if I can find a nice Ford hybrid, I think I'll be happy enough.

This is good news that more people are getting jobs.

2. Buy American

I've never understood how people can buy foreign made products and feel good about it.

3. I just bought a 2013 Ford Focus and I *love* it. Very affordable

and a nice car (at least I think so). Nearly 30 mpg in town and close to 40 for interstate driving. Go Detroit!

Looks like this:

5. And affordable!

Which was a big deciding factor for me. I was trying to get:

good gas mileage
low car payment
nice smooth riding car with a good rating for reliability
American made
dealership located in close proximity to me that would service the car for regular maintenance

6. Have to send this to my friend who's republican

He continues to deny the bailout was a good thing, so every time Ford, Chrysler, or GM adds jobs I send him links to the page, and he can't deny it because facts are facts
