Eric Holder to stay on as attorney general

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON - Attorney General Eric Holder, a lightning rod of criticism from Republicans, is staying on in his job as President Barack Obama starts his second term.

A White House official said on Wednesday that Holder is among the Cabinet members who will remain in their position. He has been working on Vice President Joe Biden's task force on finding ways to reduce gun violence after last month's mass killing in Newtown, Connecticut.

It is rare for an attorney general to serve more than four years.

The country's top law enforcement officer has been the target of fierce criticism from Republicans, who tried to oust him after a botched department operation called "Fast and Furious" that targeted gun trafficking along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Eric Holder:

A. Did very little about Voter disenfranchisement, except issue strongly worded letters to the AHoles like Scott, Corbett, etc.
B. Let Darryl Issa investigate him instead of going after the laundry list of his crimes.
C. Took no action against Rove and the Koch Brothers election repeated law violations.
D. Allowed CEO's to intimidate workers into voting for Romney.
E. Does not take serious action against individuals who make threats to President Obama.

23. Holder shouldn't be the holder of AG anymore. Time for a CHANGE!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_Attorney_General#List_of_attorneys_general

In fact Janet Reno is the last USAG who served thru both terms of a president. The last AGs who resigned during a term:
- Griffin Bell in '79 (to return to private practice)
- Ed Meese in '88 (the Iraqi pipeline...unfortunately Wikipedia doesn't devote much in his article about that scandal. I think if you remember late '80s politics you probably remember how Senate Democrats raised HELL about that scandal.)
- Richard Thornburgh in '91 (to run for US Senate in PA after the death of John Heinz)
- Alberto Gonzales in '07 (the firing of US Attorneys)

I can sorta get why Eric Holder didn't want to resign during election season just because of Fast & Furious. But he must take that opportunity NOW.

she did America proud at Waco, showed what happens if extremists stockpile guns illegally.

We need that common sense in dealing with guns today.
Wish Holder would appoint Janet to a deputy position.

I personally never want a change from anything Obama, ever.

35. Not only did you contradict yourself in only a few short sentences.......

But praising the handling of Waco is new to me. Maybe I don't visit enough?

To me Waco was about perverted cult/relig-nuts. There were other incidents from that era that surely would have illustrated the point that I think you were trying to make better than Waco.

You don't want a change from "anything Obama", yet a citizen in my state was just sent away for 10 years for violating an archaic, originally racist, now BigPharma scheduling of a naturally growing plant.

If you had less posts I would think you were a parody post of some confused left/right internet warrior.

38. Read his other posts.

You'll still find them to come off like a parody poster. Total Obama shill, regardless of the nuance or context of the issue.

That being said, just because Obama picked them doesn't mean you defend them as an awesome AG. Just as only a fucking idiot would say, "Obama picked Rahm Emanuel, he was an awesome Chief of Staff." No. He wasn't. He divided Liberals to the point where if Obama hadn't changed course in 2012 and started playing pretend liberal again in his stump speeches, he very well could have lost enough of his base to make a negative difference. He already lost a sizable chunk of that vote in November and the first two years of his Presidency along with Emanuel's urges to attack the "fucking retards" non-stop helped facilitate that.

And I am almost entirely certain you pulled the 99+% figure from your ass. He had a good number of 2008 voters for him not turn out this time around and a huge chunk of that was progressives/liberals (only difference is HOW progressive your views tend to be) that stayed home.

How was that Ralph Nader thingy doing for you from 2000-2009?

and everytime a vote is needed, Bernie and Dennis voted with Obama.
when nothing mattered, they vote different.
teams win

if one doesn't plan on voting for a democrat or one who caucus's with them, there are plenty of 3rd party places

and the ideal thing to do would be to come together rather than attempts at fractures

49. I didn't vote for Nader.

You're just pathetically thinking that any crumbs of hope Obama drops your way is enough. Your posts are always attacking those trying to proactively force change. I hate to tell you this since it's been clear in your posts that you're ignorant to it but Obama said, "Make Me Do It". And that's what we're trying to do.

Also he is a right winger on defense and civil liberties. Plain as day. He endorses indefinite detention. He endorses continued wireless wiretapping and weakening of FISA. And in this case, most Americans right and left want that element out of their daily lives. Holder has been a total piece of shit who has gone after Medical Marijuana Users at unprecedented rates while going out of his way to let bankers and war criminals off the hook. He needs to go.

You can disagree as you always will with anyone who dares question your beloved idea of whom Obama is, but facts are stubborn things and Obama is not always right and sometimes his choices need to be questioned and yes, challenged.

50. 10% of something is better than 100% of nothing

absolutists get great people like Dukakis, Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern
who got destroyed in the general.

and JFK and RFK wiretapped MLK
and MLK knew what was coming and never whined. He died for his cause. But he never whined. He preservered.

Eric Holder is part of the revolution that was won peacefully in 2008.

and Obama goes forward.
Doesn't waste time going backward, as its useless and just well, wastes time.

all revenge gets one is nothing.

change what you can but accept those things you can never change

and again, wiretapping? Ask Bobby Kennedy, who wiretapped Martin Luther King Jr.
so please don't tell me about wiretapping.

Most people want to feel safe from gun nuts and those plants that infiltrate protest groups as been the norm since always.
And anarchy is not wanted by anyone but extremists.
burn it down? then what? never a plan.

I welcome as a liberal, more federal security to stop the gun nuts and the stockpiling of guns to overthrow Obama.
And I am now a fan of Janet Reno.
Do have to admit I never heard of stockpilers of guns prior to Waco, so didn't understand it at first.
But once I did, she is a hero.
And asswipes like McVeigh and the asswipe who killed Dr. Tiller in a church and Zimmerman are terrorists and need to be stopped before they kill more.

75. rigtwing nra and anarchistic (redundant) soundbytes

Ms. Reno was more than patient, but they were stockpiling guns and starting killing FBI agents.
and they say the match was by one of the loons inside.

Last I heard, gun stockpiling, attempting to overthrow a government, and shooting and killing FBI agents is a crime.

the cowards inside should have given up peacefully. Shameful of them, like other terrorists overseas do, to use children and women as shields

same with the coward of Oklahoma City, who got what he deserved, wish a drone had got him a day before he did what he did

these people are anarchists and well, overthrowing the government is punishable by death, its called TREASON.

Janet forever.
and she can dance...ever see her on SNL? (not the actress playing her, butJanet herself).
Hope Hillary45 brings her back in some role.

and I am not into conspiracy theories or conspiracy theorists. I am long out of that.
But I do see dead people. All those who died and will die til the last gun is removed from the streets.

When it comes to going after the financial crooks among us or prosecuting war criminals from the cheney era, Holder is no better than Ashcroft or Gonzales.

And he maybe even more of a zealot on weed than either of them.

He'll fuck something up bad enough that Obama will have to get rid of him under embarrassing circumstances. It will be a black mark on his presidency.

And it could have been handled so easily with a nice quiet resignation during the post election transition.

He had the perfect opportunity to get rid of Holder but he failed to take it. So he must be OK with him.

I don't believe Holder will be in office at the end of Obama's term but his timidity and incompetence may well cause serious problems for the president before he goes.

And his departure could have been accomplished neatly and quietly right after the election.

I wonder what Obama sees in him that so many of the rest of us can't see. Or maybe he has pictures of Obama with a goat.

A real man would never question a man that knows how to prosecute the dangerous dope fiends with there pot and there disease relief, suffering is good for the soul, Holder knows that! He also knows that collapsing an economy every decade or so is a service provided by the large banks for FREE, this acts like a pressure valve to release the money to the top where it can do more good.

That is something Holder understands and has tried to help with!
What has Nader done for the banker brothers that protect us from the hardships of having money?

43. Yeah more mediocrity! 4 more years of the same! That is the change I voted for!

Here is an idea, the war on drugs is big business that this current administration seems to embrace, how about swapping the war on drugs for the war on guns instead, plenty of new bodies to pack into the corporate prisons and plenty of profit to be made!

I am still waiting for the Marxist-Socialist-Communist and most Liberal President of All Time to actually have agenda and policies that are as Liberal as the right screams about.

4 more years of disappointment...............

Oh well

68. ask George McGovern, Mike Dukakis, Eugene McCarthy and all the other losers

everyone who has won in 2008 and 2012 is directly because of President Barack Obama and his coattails.
EVERYONE
And President Obama's being the best is that reason
Who do you think got Elizabeth Warren her job?

As will Hillary45 in 2012.Because she has President Obama's backing and the one thing she didn't have in 2008. HIS VOTERS.

Those not realizing the demographic change that has happened are doomed to lose, like the republicantealibertarian3rdpartylosers did in 2012

2010 was because President Obama's voters did not realize that they, now part of the system, need to hold their noses and vote for the John Corzines and other stinkers, no matter what, and not sit on their hands and protest, and/or did not realize that now that the demographic change has occurred, that their vote is still needed to vote for the sameold candidate that did nothing personally for them, solely becuase President Obama needs those votes

As anyone watching sees
Bernie Sanders yaps from the far left
however,
when push comes to shove, Bernie votes WITH President Obama every time

and yes,
George McGovern, Mike Dukakis, Eugene McCarthy, Al Gore, John Kerry were all great people
but losers to the winners they were

How do I know?

Winners are pictured on the placemat of the Presidents, and none of them have their picture shown.

Only a winner is President.
Nice guys that don't win still are nice guys, but they are LOSERS

and you gotta win it to be in it.

So how did that Nader thingy work out for you in 2000?Those lies back then that both parties were the same, how did it work out for those who voted for Nader, or threaten to bolt again.

as John Kerry said "Don't let the door hit you on the way out".

BTW-I love Eric Holder, and the only way I would not want him to be AG is that I wish he was nominated to be on the US Supreme Court

hearing such yawning boring soundbytes from the right on Eric, just shows how Great He is!

(but gun people hate him, I can understand that those who worship their guns would hate him...your gun is going to be history. Eric Holder IS a great American Patriot and will always be thought that way throughout history. Like Janet Reno is thought of. #1!

69. PBO won because of the open racism of the GOP, their attacks against women and

their open support of all things corporate.

In essence the TeaHadists did the GOP in.

PBO, Both Clintons and Gore were not and are not Liberal and Progressive at all, IMHO they are nothing more than Moderate Republicans at best.

The Democratic Party has changed it is nothing like the Party of FDR and Henry Wallace, now leadership embraces GOP policies of old. The party is now so far to the right that Nixon could run as a Dem and those that think like you would vote for and support him.

I am not leaving the Democratic Party yet but is has been leaving me for a very long time now. The party cannot serve 2 masters, it needs to choose people or corporations. If choose choose corporation, they lose my vote and support.

70. He did not win because of anti-votes. He won because of HIMSELF.

you probably weren't happy with Lincoln or LBJ either.
silly though in each case.

accept what can't be changed
then look at how great the rest is becoming
just give it time

because blinders makes one not see how many great things have already gone forward,
and how many more are to be in 2013 and 2014.

the other stuff is just soundbytes, but not realistic in today's way.

maybe if we could rid the world of Walmart, it could slowly change back
but the odds of that happening are zero
Though NYC has kept them out of Manhattan, and mom and pops thrive there
(if one opens their eyes and looks)

(same as the derision of Bloomberg, when in fact he is the biggest democratic liberal populist there is but silly wedge issues don't see it. Who is the leading person on gun riddance besides him and Joe Biden?)Had he been able to win as a democrat, he never would have run elsewise but in 2001,right after 9-11, a winner did what a winner needed to do, which is win.

winning is the only thing important. losers can't do anything at all.

and wanting 100% gets 100% of nothing, which is nothing.
Which is why 10% of something, and 10% more with compromise, is how America was born and run for 250 years now.
Ask Lincoln.

and while those haters of LBJ because of foreign issues didn't see, was how liberal and how much LBJ got through on all the more important issues.
Had anyone else been there, we would still have had the foreign issues, and not gotten one of the other great things LBJ got, because the others didn't have the power or fortitude to actually do it, and take those other things off the table.

BTW, FDR would have entered the war years earlier, but he knew America didn't give a spit about who was being killed, and only after getting the excuse of Pearl harbor, did he enter the war that could have been earlier
(and oh, if we only had drones and bunker busting bombs then, and gotten Hitler on day 1 before anyone died, who wouldn't have been happy that 20 million lives were saved at the cost of 1 plus some collateral who probably would have died during the war anyhow.

Nader was the direct link to corporate personhood
Had Gore been seated, he wouldn't have picked Alito and Roberts who gave us corporate personhood

Had LBJ beaten Nixon and not been tossed aside because of foreign issues, who knows if there ever would have been any Bush, Nixon, Reagan, Ford in office at all?

Which is why wanting too much too fast is not the way to go.
It will lead directly circular motion back to bush, Jeb Bush.

and he won't get you anything you want at all. imho

one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.'

74. some men see things and say why, george bernard shaw

the quote bobby used
you do know bobby and jfk wiretapped Dr. King and Bobby didn't win, nor is it sure he would have even been nominated by the dems in 1968. Most realistic people know HHH still most likely would have been the nominee and still would have lost, because he was an inferior candidate, but one helleva nice guy (met him a heapin' bunch of times, a real sweetheart, friendly and listened, but he was never going to be president vs. Nixon.)

hadLBJ stayed in the race, he would have won because LBJ was stronger than Nixon.

as Casey Kasem said "Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars"

but you can't reach for the stars and actually touch them.

60. Judging by the preceding comments, the Repugs are not the only ones who want this

Wall Street Toadie to go! He is useless. We have evidence of BP's criminal activity in the Gulf oil spill and asked for a revocation of BP's probation (we found the docs BP had to plead guilty to a felony to from the Texas City explosion which put them on probation - no one went to jail there either) and they let them off probation early, after the explosion and spill had happened. Holder is a corporate shill, plain and simple. We need COMPLETE CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM before we can expect this shite to stop!
