Just 8% Now Say They Are Tea Party Members

Source: Rasmussen Reports

Views of the Tea Party movement are at their lowest point ever, with voters for the first time evenly divided when asked to match the views of the average Tea Party member against those of the average member of Congress. Only eight percent (8%) now say they are members of the Tea Party, down from a high of 24% in April 2010 just after passage of the national health care law.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 30% of Likely U.S. Voters now have a favorable opinion of the Tea Party. Half (49%) of voters have an unfavorable view of the movement. Twenty-one percent (21%) are undecided. -snip-

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on January 3-4, 2013 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

2. I'd rather be a party of this tea party.....

That had to be the creepiest tea party EVER in a movie. Buscemi does a great creepy serial killer and probably the only good part of what was a very crappy movie!

3. Sad to say but . . .

As soon as FOX “news” starts stirring up the pot - that will increase to 25%.
We need to “take back” our country, we can not tax the job creators, etc. etc.

8. Maybe so.

On a National scale. Most of the country views them as nuts.
Still, they are concentrated in a swath of congressional districts centered from Roanoke, Va to Phoenix , AZ making their legislative impact greater than their numbers. Making like miserable for all The US has way to many towns, with the suffix of 'hicks. '.

10. Now they are "independents" ...

or some other such B.S. They cannot say what they really are so they say they are an "independent" voter and I've even seen some go so far as to call themselves "progressives".

They won't admit they are baggers true and through IMO. Once a bagger always a bagger!!!

If the shoe fits you wear it teabagger!

11. I'm surprised we've not had a troll on here yet ...

To explain to us that the REAL number is actually MUCH higher, but that the Baggers are too smart to answer this question in the affirmative because they know that if they say yes they'll end up on Obammie's FBI watch-list. They don't wanna get caught up in the dragnet when Hilary and her troupe of Lesbian UN Stormtroopers come to collect all the guns and throw them into the FEMA camps ... don't you know?

They won't say which political party they belong to but they don't seem to know what a "tea bagger" is conveniently enough.

Show yourselves you baggers in hiding!!!

22. The National Institute of Mental Health

says 9.1% of the population has a "diagnosable personality disorder." Do those two numbers (8% and 9.1%) seem oddly close to anybody besides me?

Here's the page if you want to check it out:

23. That is not going to be well received here.

First, it's an unscientific idea pulled out of...let's say, thin air.
Second, it's potentially offensive to people with mental illness.

Just giving you some insight about how the DU community tends to take comments like these, seeing that you are new here.
Then again, I could be wrong, and your comparison may go over well. Either way, welcome to DU.
