1. Good news: He's a Democrat. Bad news: His choice of associates is rather dubious.

During the Democratic Party primary this spring he ran against incumbent Adan Ballesteros, dubbing him the "Cocaine Constable", for which he was sued. He also received help from the Ron-Paul supporting SuperPAC Liberty for All, which is run by a young, eccentric East Texan with a large inheritance.

I think Texas Dems need to have a friendly chat with this guy. Pro-gun or not, no Dem should be taking support from a Republican SuperPAC.

6. Any country where guns are auctioned to provide medical care for a child...

...has an extremely deep moral crisis.

7. Any country

where people have to hold bake sales, raffles, or any type of fundraiser in order to pay for medical care has a pathological problem.

Each day, 273 people die per day due to lack of health care in the U.S.

9. Agreed.

Sadly, though, I hear a lot of blame-the-victim responses to that, plus totally unrealistic notions about how health care is financed and what the odds are of your being bankrupted even when you pay insurance premiums every month.
