Boehner: Don’t blame us

Source: Washington Post

Like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) bristled at President Obama’s claim Sunday morning that Republicans were holding up a deal on the “fiscal cliff.”

“Americans elected President Obama to lead, not cast blame,” Boehner said.

He went on to blame Obama and Senate Democrats for the current situation, with no deal yet and automatic spending cuts and tax hikes set to take effect in two days.

“The president’s comments today are ironic, as a recurring theme of our negotiations was his unwillingness to agree to anything that would require him to stand up to his own party,” Boehner said. “We’ve been reasonable and responsible. The president is the one who has never been able to get to ‘yes.’”

Of course, no one in the media asked Boehner how did President Obama manage to mind control Boehner into making himself look like an idiot by wasting a week grandstanding with the Plan B proposal. They just politely allowed Boehner to live in his alternate Fox News universe.

If we could cut the Pentagon budget down to a level where we are no longer the world's policeman, we would have surpluses everywhere else. This will never happen unless we all demand COMPLETE CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM (CCFR)!!! Spread the word!

4. Since the bill to prevent going over the cliff should originate in the House it is on Boehner's back

Maybe because Boehner is unable to move the TP group and any bill passed in the House had to go through the Senate and for the fact Boehner does not want to appear weak in bringing enough votes to get a bill out except with Democrats help. This one is yours Boehner, run with it.

14. Oh, yes, the GOP had nothing to do with the current mess they orchestrated January 20th, 2009:

Sabotage: The Story Behind The Republican Party's "Top Political Priority"...

Democrats condemn GOP's plot to obstruct Obama as 'appalling and sad'

Roger Draper book details how in 2009 senior Republican figures planned a campaign to bring Washington to a standstill

Democrats have rounded on revelations about a private dinner of House Republicans on inauguration day in 2009 in which they plotted a campaign of obstruction against newly installed president Barack Obama.

...The 15 Republicans were in a sombre mood as they gathered at the Caucus Room in Washington, an upscale restaurant where a New York strip steak costs $51.

Attending the dinner were House members Eric Cantor, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra, Dan Lungren, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Pete Sessions. From the Senate were Tom Coburn, Bob Corker, Jim DeMint, John Ensign and Jon Kyl. Others present were former House Speaker and future – and failed – presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and the Republican strategist Frank Luntz, who organised the dinner and sent out the invitations.

24. Why should Obama stand up to the Democratic Party?

He and the Democratic Party won the election.

Republicans lost.

They need to live with it. They may control the House, but they lost the election. The tide is turning against them.

Many, many Republicans don't want cuts to Social Security either.

And Lindsay Graham seems to have forgotten that South Carolina is home to a lot of retired veterans. They are not going to like his insistence on cuts to the CPI increases.

Boehner needs to remember this:

http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/12/21/1351161/democratic-house-candidates-now-have-a-nearly-12-million-vote-lead-over-the-republicans/

Democrats would be in charge in the house if the Republicans had not gerrymandered their way to power.

And the Norquist pledge. Republicans have never bargined in good faith, only agreeing to unspecified changes in tax deductions. Never has the GOP put up anything which the CBO could score, leaving us to believe the wild claims of $800 billion in revenue. Besides, all analysis of the Republican proposal points to more tax cuts for the weathy while the middle class gets stuck with tax increases. And they never show how austerity can spur economic growth, which is the only real way out of the problem. Boehner's comment that "(w)e've been reasonable and responsible" is downright laughable as they have been neither.

45. Then he better send a text and tell Lyndsey Graham to get on the same page...

Lindsey Graham On Fiscal Cliff: 'Hats Off To The President. He Won.'

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) used his "Fox News Sunday" appearance to congratulate President Barack Obama on his impending victory in the so-called fiscal cliff negotiations, predicting that tax rates will go up on people making more than $400,000 or $500,000 as a result of the coming Senate deal.

"Hats off to the president. He won," Graham said. "What have we accomplished? Political victory for the president. Hats off to the president. He stood his ground. He's going to get tax rate increases, maybe not at 250, but on upper-income Americans. And the sad news for the country is we've accomplished very little in not becoming Greece or getting out of debt. This bill won't affect the debt situation."

49. A couple of the

reasons Greece is in a pickle was because of their wealthy citizens evading from paying their taxes and Goldman Sachs as well as other Banks were paid millions by the Greek Government to cook the books on loans. Now we read some things about Mitch McConnell. Boner is also in bed with Wall Street Lobbyists and banks like Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. Our sorry American media, don't report or investigate these things. Even that meeting by GOP members of the senate and House shows a dereletion by the Amerixcan media on investigative reporting. If you look up the definition of conspiracy, this would fit the meaning.

The only way America can get rid of this problem, is to rid herself of the cancer. That cancer is the GOP. The people that sent these people to office, need to understand the problem these people are causing this country. It is not just these people in congress either but institutions like the media. FOX for example is owned by Murdoch. When you have a snall group of people owning or monopolizing American Industries like Murdoch, that can be even worst that it being state owned. It is called Vulture Capitolism.

Boner cannot grasp the simple idea that nobody can lead when those you are supposed to be leading are all running around throwing temper tantrums because they don't get to run things.

The GOP remind me very much of a group of spoiled rich kindergarteners whose parents never said the word NO! to them. I expect to see McConnell hold a press conference and tell the world he is going to hold his breath until he turns blue because Reid and Obama didn't bow down and kiss his high and mighty arse.

Now they have once again screwed the poodle, but this time, at least some of the news outlets are not spreading the blame but heaping it squarely onto the GOP where it belongs.

67. Well, it looks like Boehner is leaning toward not bringing the Senate Bill to a vote...

...instead, the House is proposing to amend it, then send it back to Senate. Perhaps Boehner will take another shot at Plan B?

64. Sit down and STFU, John. You had your turn. Remember?

You traded in all of your Scrabble letters for new letters and that means you lose your turn. Rules are rules.

70. How can one get blamed for not being responsible?

Are republicans really just secret drama queens?

71. Kentauros: Go fuck yourself!

And I'll say it again, this time with greater emphasis:

Boner, go fuck yourself!

72. Who should we blame then?...

The pukes always bitch that the Pres offers no plan or whatever yet neither do they. The R's dont want to come up with something, they see it as better to say no than think of a proposition.

Another reason they should be blamed and shunned: Grover Norquist, he said that since we went over the cliff it is ok for pukes to vote on the tax increase because it is actually a tax cut. This is the most unAmerican thing there is: Fuck the country over to save face politically. I hope the 113th is better, but we all know the 114th will be since I really can't see the pukes keeping the House after what all 2013 has in store.
