Clout Diminished, Tea Party Turns to Narrower Issues

Source: NYT

“The Tea Party put a lot of steel in the spine of the Republican Party,” said Representative Tom Cole of Oklahoma.

But the Tea Party activists have not been front and center in the fiscal fight. And Mr. Cole added that Tea Party leaders now excoriating Mr. Boehner for offering higher taxes in a budget deal did not recognize political reality.

“These guys want instant success,” said Mr. Cole, a member of the House Republican leadership. “If they want to see a better result, they’ve got to help us win the United States Senate. We’ve thrown away some seats out of political immaturity.”

In my opinion, this is one the the main things we are up against. The intransigent immaturity of these right wing fascist extremists could continue to obstruct any and all of the progress needed to save our economy.
There will be 51 members in the congresses tea party caucus. They and the threat of the tycoons' organizations "primarying" moderates should cause all of us to be concerned. There is no doubt now that the house will continue in its right slide due to the gerrymandering of the districts to create safe right wing seats.

1. Agenda 21, election cheating and ACA - quite a tea party agenda. :(

"... a major issue he would be focusing on now was Agenda 21, a United Nations resolution that encourages sustainable development. It has no force of law in the United States, but a passionate element of the Tea Party sees it as a plot against American property rights."

"...corruption on local election boards had led to Mr. Obama’s victory in the state. Activists want to investigate.

Some people say it’s just a conspiracy theory, but there’s rumbling all around,” she said. “There’s all kinds of data, and no one’s talking about it, including, hello, the mainstream media.”

Another issue boiling is the “nullification” of the Affordable Care Act. Angry that Mr. Obama’s re-election means that the health care law will not be repealed, some activists claim that states can deny the authority of the federal government and refuse to carry it out."

2. Title Not Supported In Article

While it is the same title used by the NYT, when you read the article it only reflect a few changes in tactics rather than a narrowing of issues. They still view the ACA as "tyrannical" but know that a repeal cannot now happen so they are turning to key States to block implementation, a legally risky undertaking. They certainly have not budged one inch on taxes for the super rich, just ask John Boehner. Frankly, the Tea Party runs the risk of being marginalized in the House as Boehner will be forced to forge a deal with Nancy Pelosi that can also bring along 50-60 House Republicans. Yes, that will kill the Hassert Rule but that is the reality. And it certainly doesn't reflect a Tea Party narrowing the issues.

4. I am new at generating posts

The destructions say to use the title of the linked article. I probably would have used the first line of my additional comment. "In my opinion, this is one the the main things we are up against."

Also, while the tea party caucus is 51 , there are others who are not members who will support what they do.
The gerrymandering of congressional districts creating safe right wing seats is a concern.
I really feel that as the moderate muslims are the ones who must battle the radical islamists around the World, the moderate conservatives, and there are many of those, are the ones who must battle the radical tea party fascists. In my observation there is little difference between a fundamentalist muslim and a fundamentalist christian.
The quicker the tea party is marginalized the better our country will be.

9. Good Points

Right now I'm not so sure that Tea Party members even believe in democracy or the rule of law unless they get their way. The certainly follow an ends justify the means strategy. Remember in 2010 how they would show up at town hall meetings wearing their guns. A few mass murders later they stopped that practice but they are a real menace.

10. the nuts are alive and angry. Scared, even, because they listened to Fox and never expected Obama

to win (steal) re-election. All it needs is an even angrier, desperate ass like Limbaugh or Medvid, or even Beck, to tell them that this election was stolen, and that an armed response is all that our country has left, and watch out.

A close acquaintance is fully an end of times, Tea bagging, ultra conservative. Listening to him makes my head spin. We finally quit talking politics, which is the only reason why he remains an acquaintance. The people he hangs with are truly scary. And heavily armed, even in Illinois.

3. Actually, they put nails in the coffins of the repuke party.

And steel in their heads.

And they're not only politically immature. Teabaggers are spoiled, selfish, greedy, petulant little brats in general.

something that is in short supply in todays Democratic Party.

11. All Politics is Local and because of that Truth Republicans devote their energy to Local elections

and then can Gerry-mand all the Districts to secure their future in Federal positions....Democrats need to figure that out and the how and why of it... IMO it all boils down to vote by mail... Republicans have been sending out absentee ballots to all their registered members for decades now and that makes it EASY for Republicans to vote in EVERY election whether for dog catcher or President...Vote in EVERY municiple and State election so we can define the district boundries and not let Republicans do it....
