Pelosi On A Gingrich Presidency: "That Will Never Happen"

King: "Why?"

Pelosi: "He's not going to be President of the United States. That's not going to happen. Let me just make my prediction and stand by it, it isn't going to happen."

King: "Why are you so sure?"

Pelosi: "There is something I know. The Republicans, if they choose to nominate him that's their prerogative. I don't even think that's going to happen."

If none of the candidates is able to win a majority of delegates, then the nominee is chosen by the convention. Open conventions can get very interesting, and can result in out-of-nowhere nominees. There hasn't been an open convention in this country in many years, and I'm pretty sure that either Gingrich, Romney, or Santorum will pick up enough delegates to claim a majority before the convention. However, if all 4 candidates stay in until the end, it's a distinct possibility - each of the 4 has their own base of supporters.

Obama really won by a lot more than we think. They are always taking away a certain chunk of the votes. If it had really been a close election, we'd have McCain in the White House. But it was an absolute landslide (which truly is hardly surprising), so Obama won.

Just my opinion.

he gets the nomination. If she releases it now then the GOP could just go ahead and nominate someone else. And if Newt doesn't get the nomination which I think is the much more likely scenario, then release it.

My only caveat is, if there is something this bad in his closet, why would Newt be running knowing that? Well, one possibility is that he has got stuff on others too. I guess time will tell.

It's hard for us mere mortals to comprehend the boundless hubris, narcissism, and sense of entitlement possessed by some of these Washington critters. It's not strictly confined to the other side of the aisle, though.

Remember when John Edwards was trying to convince us Dems to make him our nominee for President - all the while knowing he had a secret that, when exposed, would hand the victory to the Republicans, and sabotage the work of legions of devoted Democratic volunteers?

I can't stand listening to him talk. I wish I could describe how awful he sounds. And, when you put the sound of his voice to the words he says as he stomps his feet whining that nothing is ever, ever his fault, but the fault of everyone else - why it's enough to make a grown woman vomit!

Glad I got that off my chest.

PS: I've also thought this dog & pony show the GOP has been doing is mostly a ruse to allow someone to come in late in the game, whereby missing all the debates & scrutiny - with most everyone in the GOP relieved that they won't care where or how someone like Jeb Bush or Eric Cantor stand. It has to be about those of us on the Left stopping "THEM ONES OVER THERE". Her saying something like this gets her into the mix on an election other than her own. She needs to worry about herself - and let someone in the shadows on the Obama/Biden campaign "say" this stuff.

Wed Jan 25, 2012, 10:32 AM

by the people who vote for Newt, is the fact that he was banned from ever holding public office again, when he was fired from Congress. They actually passed a bill (the ethics committee), banning Newt from holding any elected office.
When the repugs were trying to keep the mobster, Tom Delay, in office, they did away with this bill. This allowed newt to run for POTUS. Hell, he couldn't even run for dog-catcher before that.
Knowing how corrupt most of "our" politicians are, Newt must have been caught for some heavy shit. This is the true state of our (orgainized crime) government. Pushing for a monster to run as POTUS.
We, the people, have no choice about who TPTB allow to be "our" leaders. If we did, we would choose moral, "people before profits" citizens. Instead we are always presented with the "lesser of two evils", which we are to believe that we actually decide upon.
We do "on-line banking," yet are unable to have "hack-proof" electronic voting? How long will Americans allow themselves to be puppets?
Really, we ALL know it is a lie, yet we participate, following "their" rules. We are cowardly idiots. I apologize for the negativity. I just get tired of the "illusion" that we all ignore.
