Colorado background check submissions for guns break all records

Source: Denver Post

This weekend set a new record for all single-day background check submittals in Colorado for potential gun purchases, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation officials.

The first day after news of one of the worst mass shootings in America, when a gunman killed 20 children and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., requests to buy guns in Colorado surged to more than 4,200.

14. This just leads to more dead kids

The chances of one of your kids getting killed by a firearm goes up with more firearms in the house (duh). I kinda feel sorry for all the families that are buying up guns without understanding what they are doing.

17. Well, Colorado has some big RW strongholds, so not surprised - fear of gun right's loss

a major driver here. A few will be convinced they should get a gun because there are "crazy" ppl out there... Pretty funny - background check also registers guns' ownership so if gun seizure -were- to come about, they would know where to go to get the guns.

If you believe they're "comin' to get your guns", seems to me having more won't make any difference, but heck, that's just me...

I grew up in Montana - rifles in every pickup window in a rack - usually two.

But this society is not sane.

20. I work in a farm & ranch store in SoCo....

... and the last couple days has been just crazy in the sporting goods dept.

Lines and lines of camo-clad runts stocking up with guns, and whole crates of ammo.

Would love to ask these 'tough' mountain guys what they're all so scared of... but I'd probably get fired.
