Bonuses go to nonunion Detroit workers

Detroit Months after promising to get rid of so-called longevity pay, the Bing administration issued bonus checks to nonunion employees last week despite the city's unprecedented fiscal crisis.

End-of-the-year checks were cut to nonunion city employees and managers Friday. They ranged from $150 for five years of service to $750 for 26 years. Taxes are taken from the payments.

3. I didn't get one.

I retired and withdrew money from my 401K to pay off my house. It got added into earned income. Anyone making over 170,000 didn't qualify.

What I did qualify for for the 26,000 in penalties that I got hit with.

4. I hope they don't spend it all in one place.

Who knows how long before they see another one. This was the "Calm before the Storm" bonus to placate the stupid. When they come to their senses and just how far that $150 (before payroll and income taxes) doesn't go, they'll realize that they've been screwed.
