Elizabeth Warren Appointed To Senate Banking Committee

Source: TPM

Consumer advocate and Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) will serve on the Senate Banking Committee once the 113th Congress convenes in January, Majority Leader Harry Reid announced on Wednesday.

“I am excited to work with the members of our expanded majority," Reid said in a statement. "Our caucus is more diverse than ever, with a record sixteen female Democratic senators serving in the next Congress. These committee assignments will allow all members of our caucus to bring their unique talents and expertise to bear as we work together to advance the interests of the middle class.”

Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) will also chair the Budget committee, Reid announced.

I would have been deeply disappointed had Senator-elect Warren not been chosen to serve on the SBC. She courageously fought to bring about the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau against all odds, and didn't falter. She will fight to keep the American people safe from the Robber Barons in this country.

...on my behalf. They didn't actually do anything other than communicate my issue and demand a response.

I had been locked in a fight with B of A for more than a year. Right after CFPB got involved, the bank backed down and stopped putting bogus derogatory information in my credit files.

to put people on committees they're actually QUALIFIED to be on.

So I won't say "Congrats!"; I'll just say, "Well, duh!" -- and I'll be those Rethugs now wish they'd left well enough alone and let Obama give Warren that Cabinet consumer post!

She's one of the few Senators that everyone knows about, no matter what state she represents.

I have Barbara Boxer as my Senator and Barbara Lee as my Congresswoman so I know how proud you are of your Senator.
