The Kansas City area is losing the longtime corporate headquarters of Layne Christensen Co., which announced Thursday it would move to a Houston suburb after 88 years here.
The water drilling, mining and exploration company, which is headquartered in Mission Woods, is heavily involved in the oil and natural gas business and said it needed to be closer to its customers.
It will move to The Woodlands, Texas, next spring and expects to complete the relocation by the end of the year.
“This decision reflects Layne’s commitment to our … operating philosophy, the continuing growth of our business, and the evolution of our end markets,” said Rene Robichaud, Layne’s president and chief executive
