Right-to-work bill gets Michigan Chamber's support

Lansing The Michigan Chamber of Commerce on Monday threw its political weight behind passage of a right-to-work law, adding pressure on Republican lawmakers to deliver a blow to organized labor before year's end.

"We would suggest that now is the right time to take this up and see where the votes are," said Jim Holcomb, senior vice president and general counsel of the Michigan Chamber.

Groups advocating for Michigan to become the 24th state with a right-to-work law plan to converge on the Capitol today and lobby Republican lawmakers who are concerned about the political backlash they could face.

-snip-

GOP lawmakers are said to be lining up votes to possibly introduce a right-to-work bill as early as today and quickly pass it before the Legislature's lame-duck session ends Dec. 20.

You had to know that this was coming after the super-pac money ad buys led to the defeat of Proposal 2 on the November ballot.

4. Fuck It!

This is EXACTLY why I voted for Proposal 2. I good rule of thumb is the more obnoxious ads you see on the Retard Tube telling you not to vote for something, the better reason there is to vote for it. You know the money grubbing corporate turds had a lot of big fat money behind defeating this proposition because they wanted to pull a fast one. It looks like the divide-and-conquer strategy has worked on the dimwit sheeple. The game is called break the Unions by turning the stupid lemmings against each other. Make all the non-union private sector workers with shit wages and zero benefits envious so they vote to bring everyone down with them!

A unionized public employee, a member of the Tea Party and a CEO are sitting at a table. In the middle of the table there is a plate with a dozen cookies on it. The CEO reaches across and takes 11 cookies, looks at the tea partier and says,"look out for that union guy, he wants a piece of your cookie."

Fucking Idiots!!!

11. Just received this email call to action for Wednesday, Dec. 5

Tell our legislators:

Michigan is not a Right-To-Work State!

WE NEED YOUR HELP TOMORROW

Volunteer tomorrow, Wednesday, December 5, as a Citizen Lobbyist or an Event Marshal:

Citizen Lobbyists will be visiting legislative offices to tell Representatives and Senators to oppose Right-to-Work legislation. Shifts for Citizen Lobbyists start at 8:00am and again at 9:30am.

Marshals will be leading a group of 5 to 10 citizen lobbyists around the Capitol. Marshals should arrive at 7:30am.

Please arrive at the Lansing Center (333 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI) before your shift begins.

Click here to sign up to let us know we can count on you tomorrow.

If you cannot attend the action tomorrow, please stay tuned to our Facebook page for more updates. We will continue to urge legislators not to pursue so-called "Right to Work" through this weekend and next week with events in Lansing and across Michigan.

In Solidarity,

Karla Swift, President
Michigan State AFL-CIO
