Mitt Romney Rejoins Board Of Directors At Marriott International
Source: Huffington Post
Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is headed back to work at Marriott International, rejoining the board of directors for a third time, the company announced on Monday.
"We are delighted that Gov. Romney has agreed to rejoin our board, on which he has served with distinction twice before," J.W. Marriott, Jr., the company's executive chairman, said in a statement. "We will benefit from his tremendous energy and capability to guide long-term success in an increasingly complex business environment. We look forward to working closely with him again as a member of our strong, talented and diverse board."
...
Romney previously served on the board of Marriott International from 1993 until 2002, when he left to mount a successful run for Massachusetts governor. He rejoined the company after an unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2008, again serving on the board from January 2009 to January 2011, when he stepped down in order to mount a second White House campaign.

(125 posts)Romney is a decent guy. Completely wrongheaded about, well, pretty much everything...Surrounded by nefarious yes men who stroke his ego and tell him what he wants to hear, totally ignorant about everything except how to make money, shielded from reality by his money and circle of enablers and encouraged in his folly. But for all that, I think he's didn't want to bring the country down like so many in the repub leadership, he genuinely wanted to help America, although luckily he didn't make the cut because his brand of "help" would have destroyed the country!
If he had won things would have goen to hell very quickly...But again, as a person I think he's not really a "bad" man. Just rich and totally ignorant of what life is like for everybody else.

His "humanity?" YUK YUK YUK. What a card!!!

What has he done that they HAVEN'T told us about? I shudder to think, but "not a bad man?" I seriously doubt that. Sorry, but I'm more skeptical about that.

(125 posts)We all do stupid stuff when we are young, the haircut victim said it was just a stupid prank, not malicious. The dog story appears to be gospel to the creepy freepies, so I'm not sure I believe it.
My father met Romney a few times, said he seemed nice (anecdotal doesn't count for much though.)
I think he is a spoiled rich guy who just doesn't understand reality, but wishes to help people with his wonderful presence -- you know, the type of person that thinks being condescending is the same as beig kind, but means well just the same. He's like that whacky, arrogant but ultimately well-meaning uncle that you nobody takes seriously, who always gets into fights at the dinner table with the whacky, far-out uncle known as Ron Paul.
Just my two cents. Thats all I'll spent defending Romney!

(89,244 posts)were wrong and felt horrible about it. Romney was also the leader of this bullying. Romney is the only one who lied and claimed he didn't remember it.
it was the other bullies with romney who brought up what happened since the victim had died some years ago. they felt bad but romney didn't.

(8,200 posts)People who voted for Romney were totally blind to his flip-flopping. When you are willing to say any thing to get a person's vote you have absolutely no principles. The GOP is driven by hatred and are the scourge of the nation. A recent survey found that 25% of Republicans want to secede from the union. Loyal Americans who wrap themselves in the flag and believe in democracy, yeah, bull shit. Nothing more than racists pigs.

1) Protesting for the Vietnam war, then running to go hide in France to make sure you do not
get drafted.
2) Making sure non of your five male children ever served their country.
3) Hiding your money in tax havens all over the world.
4) Engaging in all manner of tax dodging schemes.
5) Blatantly lying on everything, even when presented with the facts.
6) Profiting from the pain and sorrow of workers whose pension funds Romney stole through
Bain capital.
7) Romney's so called charity is actually a tax dodging scheme he set up with the help of the
mormon "church". I do not know of any non mormon non profit that gets money from
Romney.

(23,637 posts)They have various committees who prepare reports, do all the necessary research, reporting, etc and staffers who brief the Directors. Then they vote on on the issues before them. The directors are wined and dine while they're at the corporate headquarters and in some cases the BOD meetings are held at resort destinations. This is not work for Romney. Work would be too hard.
