Republicans on talk shows continue to criticize Susan Rice

Source: Chicago Tribune

WASHINGTON -- Speaking on Sunday's TV talk shows, Republicans sharpened their attacks on Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and a potential nominee for the next secretary of State.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on CBS' "Face the Nation" that Rice "didn't do herself much good" during her visits to Capitol Hill last week.
He added: "I find her lacking when it comes to being the best choice for being secretary of State."

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), appearing on CNN's "State of the Union," noted that she had met with Rice last week and remained "very troubled" about the ambassador's potential nomination to head the State Department.

At issue are public comments Rice made after the Sept. 11 attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, which left U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead.

12. I hope he does ... and when she's grilled about the "misinformation she was spreading",

I hope she turns to them and pisses them off by asking why they weren't this interested in George W. Bush and his "misinformation" about 9/11 ... 2001 ...

4. I think it's hard for Repukes to imagine someone with a mind of their own.

President Obama and Susan Rice are not ALEC puppets hence they fear the unknown/uncontrolled!!

8. That's what the CIA said, and they should know.

I just don't understand these assholes. They are as un-American as you can get.

7. Have you noticed that there are never any specifics?

It's like saying a crime was committed without saying if it was a murder or a robbery. Maybe it's because they do not have a real case against her. They just do not like women especially if their skin is dark.

9. It is a non issue,

because the country doesn't even feel there was a cover up. There are Polls showing that. This is only a GOP issue. They hate President Obama and are still feeding some red meat to their base. The media also keep putting them in front of the cameras, so they can whine every day about their grievances. I just let it go in one ear and out the other. There are more important issues to attend to. The President can't even get things done and this has been like this since 2010. They need a good thumping in 2014, and the country will be the better for it.

10. McCarthyism Is Alive And Well

And once again we have a compliant media stoking the fires of McCarthyism.

To date we have no idea what "very troubled" means beyond it being code for the real motive. Why, for instance, are Graham and Ayotte not also troubled with Gen. Petraeus for the talking points his staff provided Rice or, for that matter, Mitt Romney who forced the Obama administration's hand with his ill-advised news conference on the evening of 9/11 where he disclosed classified information in an effort to score political points. Once again, the compliant media reinforce the McCarthy style attacks. Republicans are not "sharpening" their attacks, they are simply repeating their point that the are "very troubled". Obviously, no amount of data will cause them to behave responsibly because nobody is bothering to hold them accountable by asking the simple question "what, specifically, are you very troubled about". That is a simple, straight-forward question yet it has gone unasked for nearly 3 months. This is really an insignificant, small scale attack that did sadly result in 3 Americans being trapped in a burning building where they died. There are real questions that need to be asked, like why did they end up being trapped in that building and why Libyan forces were not available to help fend off the terrorist attack. But, make no mistake, these attacks are McCarthyism, pure and simple.

14. Give it up you assholes, the cat's out of the bag.

We all know you want it to be Kerry so you can try to shove Scott Brown back in to the Senate.

15. Exactly. They are so transparent it's funny.

They think their lobbying for Kerry for SofS will succeed, and so they will have a chance to take a Senate seat back with Scott Brown again. It's so obvious. Somebody with a very high profile needs to call them on it.
