1. "These runaway chemicals will not hurt you,...

they are as safe, as clown's milk."

Poor old New Jersey. I hope the ones around the spill are all safe. President Obama may have to go help the governor again.

2. Big Deal. In NJ toxic dumping is a daily past time.

Christie has even been scolded by other republicans over indifference to the environment. The only thing that made this newsworthy was the train derailing.

6. South Jersey is beautiful

Paulsboro has a big refinery but the surrounding areas are really pretty green and rural. When I was going through Woodstown I felt like I was in the shire, it felt more rural than Idaho.

8. Cowtown is a regular stop for us whenever we get up that way.

Really nice area to visit and always a treat to walk around and window shop. Even cooler to catch the rodeo. Traffic is horrendous though Nice to see that all of NJ hasn't turned into offices, malls and parking lots.

I have lots of fond memories of Cowtown and the Berlin Market and the Pennsauken Mart when that was around.

Hubby & I went on our first date (and several others) at Richmond Ice Cream, he introduced me to banana ice cream

rambling........apologies.

9. Thank you

It really is beautiful. There are farms and forest land. Lakes and streams. I went jogging and saw deer and turtles. It is lovely here.

10. Easy there

NJ is a convenient target on DU. It causes less drama than insulting the South.

11. South Jersey is a polluted dump when you look

behind the curtain. It has also been over developed and ignore building regulations. They have been devastated by Sandy because of their greed and ignorance. All that glitters is not gold.

Also the stink off South Jersey due to pollution can be just as bad as the rest of the state. The beaches are filthy and they actually have fecal reports every summer telling people they can swim when the fecal level goes below a certain point.

Nice brochures but I know the reality.

4. The thinking is that the big corporate train company would rather

inconvenience people by running trains over dangerous tracks than invest in people by hiring them to update their failing rail system.

Maybe fixing the rails is only seen as being necessary only after the rails fail.

7. At least one car was carrying vinyl chloride they said on tv.

"Might cause shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing." But that report don't tell you how bad Vinyl Chloride really is. Watching your realitives and neighbors die from cancers, will tell you that it's real bad stuff though.

This Public Health Statement is the summary chapter from the Toxicological Profile for Vinyl Chloride. It is one in a series of Public Health Statements about hazardous substances and their health effects. A shorter version, the ToxFAQs™, is also available. This information is important because this substance may harm you. The effects of exposure to any hazardous substance depend on the dose, the duration, how you are exposed, personal traits and habits, and whether other chemicals are present. For more information, call the ATSDR Information Center at 1-888-422-8737.

This public health statement tells you about vinyl chloride and the effects of exposure to it.
