Senator Vows to Block Any Clinton Successor

Source: Wall Street Journal

Ambassador Susan Rice’s attempt to repair her standing with Senate Republicans fell short Tuesday, as a trio of GOP senators emerged from a meeting with her even more harshly critical of the comments she made following the U.S. consulate attack in Libya.

One of the senators, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, said she would try to block the confirmation of Ms. Rice or another nominee to succeed departing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. “My view is we should hold on this until we get sufficient information,” she said...

1. Huh?

She'll block ANY nominee? That's right; let's waste months by not have a quick, smooth transition to a new Secretary of State. Who is being a threat to out national security? Gee, maybe the Senator from New Hampshire and the puppet masters themselves; McCain and Graham.

I don't EVER want to hear a Republican say they love this country again. Clearly, they DON'T!

They are just trying to obstruct Obama from appointing who he wants. Whether Clinton leaves in Feb or March won't matter if she runs in 2016. It would be nice to let her take a break though. That's what pisses me off about it is that she's caught in the middle.

20. Maddow discussed this

Her theory is that if they block Rice, the administration would go with Kerry. Kerry would then give up his Senate seat. Then, the GOP could re-run Scott Brown in a low voter turnoff special Senate election & they would gain a Senate seat.

Definitely best conspiracy theory I've heard all year.

To "get sufficient information". It looks to me like you failed to frame your questions in a manner to illicit the "sufficient information" you were looking for. It seems to me that it is your problem for being so inept at asking questions -- perhaps because you spent your time putting out your talking points instead. Let's face it, you are not interested in answers because you instead just want the issue dragging on.

It is very obvious.

Scott Brown lost by a narrow margin for Massachusetts, so if Kerry's seat becomes vacant, they've got a shoe-in.

I really hope Senator Kerry holds on to his seat and doesn't accept a cabinet position.
