Walker confident he's clear in John Doe investigation

Source: madison.com 3 hours ago • Associated Press

(Gov. Scott Walker) said he remains "absolutely" confident that he is not the subject of a criminal investigation involving former aides in the Milwaukee office.

....

"That isn't anything that's in violation of any ethics or other legal concerns," Walker said.

Walker said that, for example, a daily conference call he organized with county and campaign aides was meant to facilitate communication about schedules and staffing and help address questions from the media.

Walker also talked about the probe that has shadowed him for more than two years during a wide-ranging interview Monday with The Associated Press at his Capitol office.

Democrats claim emails show Walker was involved in the illegal activity.

So far, six people charged with crimes, misconduct in office, theft, county workers illegally campaigning while on the job, while Walker maintains he knew nothing of this work on his behalf. Meanwhile evidence shows regular contact between Walker's offices and political campaign staffs, daily telephone meetings on political topics and subterfuge.

This story may only have just begun for Walker. The recent sentencing hearing revealed more of the judicial landscape, and Walker seems far more likely to be indicted. I think he protesteth too much for a reason.

2. Wanker shows no signs that anything affects him in the least...

He is totally immune from any sense of conscience, negative press or ongoing investigation.
He is a sociopath IMHO.

4. "Walker maintains he knew nothing of this work on his behalf."

That is just not credible. And if he did not know he should have. He was supervising these people. This is akin to management claiming not to know about sexual harassment taking place in the workplace. Sorry but that does not get you off the hook.

8. Not to make light of sexual harassment, but more like a boss not knowing

about rampant sexual harassment - ie every woman who works there getting hooted and hollered at and colorful language about what would like to be done to them all day.

As opposed to the boss not knowing that Bob slapped Mary on the butt once (or vice versa).

9. Yes - what I meant, actually. But even in the case of your example....

The supervisor should know about it, because with the proper training, which the supervisor is responsible for providing, Mary would feel free to file a complaint and Bob would be less likely to engage in that type of behavior in the first place.

7. But in the Walker case there is an email trail

http://wisoapbox.blogspot.com/2012/11/kelly-rindfleischs-trial-powerpoint.html

Scott Walker CCed on many of those emails (and there are apparently thousands more sent or received by his deputy chief of staff Rindfleisch) and even responded to some of them. In particular this gem:

Still I can see the snake getting away with it if he still plays the "I didn't know" game

11. This basically says "Don't anyone get caught." Focus is on "another story" and not on bad behavior,

so entirely political and calculating. This means use your private cell phones as much as it means don't campaign on government time.

An important consideration with this e-mail, written after the investigation is ON, writing knowing it will be read by investigators?

6. Home-State Scandal Interrupts Scott Walker's Presidential Positioning

Home-State Scandal Interrupts Scott Walker's Presidential Positioning

It is no secret that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker would like very much to have his name added to the long shortlist of 2016 Republican presidential contenders. But the nation’s most militant anti-labor politician has suddenly been thrust into the center of a scandal that is likely to dim his national prospects, and that could yet cost him his state post.

Even after major setbacks for Walker’s Republicans in Wisconsin—where Barack Obama easily beat Mitt Romney and progressive Democrat secured the state’s open US Senate seat—the governor was jetting off to California last week to make high-profile appearances at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California ......

10. On another note - how is Walker doing on job creation in Wisconsin?

I ask because someone brought it up in the comments and it got me to wondering.
Is Wisconsin still losing jobs?

13. How does he know? Did someone call him?

And say something like, "Hey, Gov! This is someone important! Just wanted to let you know you're clear in the John Doe investigation!"

Gov: "Oh, wow!! Thanks a lot!

Someone Important: "Gotta run, now. Can't talk for 20 minutes this time!"

14. The claim is essentially contradictory, self-negating

The thing about ongoing investigations, you do NOT know how they will turn out. We saw the evidence at the hearing, the case is more than it seemed, closer to Walker. Walker will find out when he is indicted, not before.

16. re: "Walker will find out when he is indicted, not before."

I bet Walker will continue to claim, "I have done nothing wrong...I didn't do anything illegal...I'm not guilty of any crime...This is not about me..."etc. even after he is indicted.
He'll prob be repeating much of the same while they are arresting him, leading him off to prison and while sitting in the can.
Walker will never believe he has done anything wrong.....and so on ad infinitum.

18. Meh! Blagojevich expected to be cleared of his charges all the way to jail.

What else are those guys gonna do--stand in public and say, "Yep, I'm guilty as hell! I'm going to jail as soon as my lawyers get done stalling this mess..."

It will play out for Walker as it will.

20. Remember how, just before everything fell down around their ears, Enron

put out that ad about how fabulous they were? ("Why ask why?")

That's what this reminds me of.

Edited for spelling. Nothing reminged me of anything.
