Spain asks former Latin American colonies for investment to help it through financial crisis Article by: JORGE SAINZ , Associated Press Updated: November 17, 2012 - 1:24 PM CADIZ, Spain - Spain's prime minister on Saturday joined its king in asking former Latin American colonies to help the EU nation overcome a deep financial crisis by channeling investments its way. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said Spain had invested heavily in Latin America when it suffered a crisis 10 years ago, and now that the roles were reversed, he called upon those nations to increase their participation in his country's economy. "Spain receives Latin American investment with open arms," he said. Rajoy was speaking at the Iberoamerican summit being held in Spain's southwestern port of Cadiz, once the country's gateway for importing Aztec and Inca treasure. King Juan Carlos made the same plea Friday, saying "our eyes turn to you, we need more Latin America." Read more: http://www.startribune.com/business/179805531.html?refer=y

6. I remember from 1967...

...traveling in Spain, and EVERYONE from Europe took their vacations in Spain, because it was "the bargain". You could bum around Spain for next to nothing. Then, almost overnight Spain was no better a deal for travelers than anyplace else in Western Europe. Today, it's a bit cheaper than France, Germany, England, Belgium, etc...but not by much; and certainly not by what it use to be.
Point is, maybe it's time for Spain to accept the fact that it is NOT in the same class as France and Germany, and therefore it needs to accept it and scale back to it's "un-inflated rates". I don't know how all this works out with the people of Spain, but just saying; maybe it's time they get back to reality where they belong? |

"We're really broke". "Hope you don't mind we absconded with all your gold". After all, that was a long time ago and it's been spent".

Spain can't pay it's own bills, it's own employees nor it's own retirees, but they want an extension of credit!!! So now they come -- hat in hand to the people of the very South American countries that they've previously enslaved, robbed and drained dry and who have millions living in poverty in perpetuity. And yet they demand to be saved???
What do they have as collateral that's worth anything? Is the king and queen willing to hock their crowns, their palaces, their hunting lodges??? Is the king willing to fore-go his African safaris where he kills countless innocent animals to prove his manhood??? How about all the booty you've robbed from those countries going back centuries. Did you lose all that to the bankers as well? And where's all that Aztec and Mayan gold? How bout handing all that back??? - This is pathetic and yet I'm not in the least surprised. Come peasants! Save your betters!!!
