Officials: Few of Gen. Allen emails questionable

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two U.S. officials say just a handful of the emails between the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan and a Florida woman are potentially problematic, but the vast majority of the 20,000-plus pages of documents reviewed by investigators were routine.

The disclosure puts a clearer perspective on the breadth of questionable communications between Gen. John Allen and Tampa socialite Jill Kelley. Officials have described some emails as inappropriate and “suggestive.” Allen has said he’s done nothing wrong.

One of the officials put the number at five. The officials were not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Kelley is a key player in the scandal that uncovered ex-CIA Director David Petraeus’ affair with his biographer and led him to resign.

1. Reminds me of the scene in "The Campaign" where Will Ferrell says only 1%

of his phone calls had sexual harassment.

4. The movie surprised me.

It had two rich brothers, the "Moch Brothers", buying elections,
selling out Americans to China,
etc,
etc.

6. I find the lack of sex in this sex scandal very interesting.

This has to be the most sex-free sex scandal in history.

11. The 'volume' astounded me at first. Then I realized what the investigators were doing.

They printed off every single email. Think of the email strings you've been on where there are multiple replies back and forth. Each email contains every previous email. So one exchange of 4-5 emails, in Allen's account, could easily be 10 pages, printed, with signatures, etc. And you double that when you print Kelly's emails as well. You could probably get 100 pages from one moderately sized email string.

5. It's not the emails, it's how she insinuated herself and his poor judgement

in allowing her on the base and writing that letter for her looney sister

8. I thought Petraeus wrote the letter for the loon.

Did Allen write one too?

9. Yes, he did and there were copies of it on DU around

It had similar warning, and this is just for the looney sister so we can see how manipulative Jill is - or how dim the generals are in their efforts at being "socially organized"!

10. Its Not The Tone But The Content.

Its those massive "routine" emails that are questionable. What was she doing for them and why? Why did this civillian have such a close contact/relationship with the brass in Tampa? You smooze your way into Centcom and next thing you know you're a Honorary Ambassador and Consul. Kelley was obviously not vetted and she is a charity fraudster to boot. That any of these generals should be associating with Kelley is outrageous. Very poor lack of judgement to say the least.
