Derrick Belcher, Man Behind Alabama Secession Petition, Mad About Losing Topless Car Wash (VIDEO)

Source: Huffington Post

Meet Derrick Belcher, a 45-year-old from Chunchula, Ala. Belcher is a truck driver, knife collector, "absolute Libertarian" and previously owned a topless car wash -- that is, until the government shut down his business, he claims.

According to Alabama.com, Belcher is so upset with the government, he's petitioning for Alabama to secede from the United States.

The Alabama native blames the federal government for shutting down his topless car wash, Euro Details, which he claims was successful for a decade in Mobile, according to Alabama.com. In 2001, Belcher was arrested and charged with obscenity. “The government ripped my business away, and now they’re choking America to death with rules and regulations,” he said.

Alabama enacted its anti-obscenity law in 1998, prohibiting private businesses and clubs from allowing breasts, genitalia and buttocks to be shown for entertainment, the Chicago Tribune previously reported. Although legislators claimed the law was instituted to stop nude dancing, "opponents argue the statute is so broad that it could be used to censor any type of entity that shows nudity," the Tribute explained.

This guy is an idiot on so many levels.

But just as a start, notice that he's blaming the FEDERAL government for loss of his topless carwash. Even though the article explains that it was an Alabama STATE law, enacted in 1998, that shut him down and got him charged with obscenity.

Gee, what other low-pay, zero-prestige crap jobs where women's body parts are entertainment can females dream of?

3. Cuz maybe he's a Ditto head?

Listening to Rush in his truck all day. That would explain why he wants to stay in Alabama after it "secedes", even though the state shut him down.

Listening to a boob all day might compel him to think of them...

5. I would have liked for Mr. Belcher to list the freedoms...

...he claims we're losing "at breakneck speed," but perhaps he hasn't thought that far in advance.

"Topless Car Wash?" I thought that kind of thing when out with "Playboy after Dark."

10. So he's blaming the feds for an obscenity law

that was most likely written by the idiot Puritans in Alabama's state government.

Delicious. More, I must have more conservative tears.

11. So many dots

republicans can not connect the dots

Here is the plan: Give all republicans a book of connect-the-dots of 500 pictures and put them in a room and tell them they can come out when they are finished. None of them would ever leave the room. No republican has ever been able to finish ONE connect-the-dot picture.

Better than re-education camps

that was almost certainly written by Alabama Repukes.

Not too bright, but then again it ain't getting any smarter out there among the Repukes.

16. I'm really upset about Obama closing down all the topless car washes back in 2001, too!

A topless car wash is exactly the kind of high-quality job that grows the economy and encourages up other businesses to move to the area. Once you've got a topless car wash, a massage parlor with a topless all-girl staff is seldom far behind. The neighborhood could pick up a pawn shop or a bail bondsman, as well

But no! Obama stepped in, and the neighborhood went to hell. And not just the neighborhood, but the whole country, I'm afraid: Obama's anti-business actions are the real reason the economy was floundering in 2007 and 2008.

18. Great Idea! Just think about all those Seats in the House of Representatives held Republicans

That will disappear and give Democrats a majority. Not to mention saving U.S. tax payers the huge burden of supporting the red states since they take more tax money than they pay out. They can start a new country and call it Dumbfuckastan.

19. Typical.

So many of the regulations that right-wingers hate are actually state and local. Those who hate them could campaign to change them at that level but they are too stupid to do it.

20. If the state of Alabama enacted the law, the secession is not going to cure that

he's still not going to be allowed to have a topless car wash business in Alabama.

Do these assholes ever try to think things through before they open up their cornpone yaps?

22. Even is seccesion were possible...

...(and in this case, I wish it were) the Independent Republic of New Alabama--or whatever ridiculous thing they'd call it--would immediately fall into a protracted and stupid civil war between the pro-titty carwash and the anti-titty carwash folks. If only someone could film the whole thing. It could be aired on Wednesday nights right after "Survivor". I'd watch it. I'd sign his petition too.

But then the anti-topless side wouldn't like that. When all is said and done, they'd never actually get around to having a debate panel.

23. Dude, it's Alabama.

People here blame the federal government when a city cop gives them a speeding ticket.

State closed a road? Blame the Feds! County raised the price of a car tag? Blame the Feds! City told you your junkyard was an eyesore? Blame the Feds! Stubbed your toe? Goddamned Feds! (All but the last real examples I've heard)

Blaming the Federal government for absolutely anything that goes wrong is more popular than Jesus if he was a quarterback.
